gunsynd: dd,
The cream of the Super League have a chance to topple three of the biggest names from the NRL in the expanded World Club Challenge. Warrington host St George Illawarra on Friday night and Wigan take on Brisbane Broncos a day later, before St Helens meet South Sydney on Sunday to determine who are the world champions.
That sounds like you have a fun weekend of rugby ahead of you. Who do you think will be determined the world champions? I seem to recall you liking South Sydney? Either way, I hope they are some good matches and you have an good time watching them.

CarrionCrow: Don't worry about it. You described your experience, and did so well.

Every review is subjective, nothing is ever definitive. Some of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever played have fans.
(No idea why, but they do.)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. =)
I preferred Lifeless Planet a lot more. Both had a similar "isolated character" feel to them, but for me Lifeless Planet had a better story and more interesting gameplay.

Souths and St Helens are playing for World Championship, the others are just trials for our teams.Dragons and Broncos..
I may lost the interest for PC gaming but I can't stop playing strategy games. I'm playing Empire at War,the Total War games,Europa Universalis 3.
I just LOVE strategy games.

RPG,Strategy nothing better:-)

EndreWhiteMane: Hope you didn't pay full price for that, sounds dreadful. :-)

CarrionCrow: The writing's shit, the combat's repetitive, the graphics are virtually nonexistent, the sound fluctuates between being dull and shitty.

Needless to say, I paid very, very little for it. Certainly not the ridiculous standard price they want.
I've been playing some of the Desura 'freebies', there's some fun stuff in there.
There's like 500 of them and they fit my budget. :-) A lot are crap but it's cool to play around.
You should give Desura a try, forget the client and just go with the DRM free stuff.

So I guess your money is on South Sydney. Are they your favourite Australian team?

I stopped playing Total War games at Medieval 2. Partly due to the newer games having DRM, and partly due to the mess the newer games were. I have not played any of the Paradox games.

*hello hug*

Impressive. I just had a quick look at what NRL stood for (I had an idea, but I just wanted to check), and it says it's regarded as the world's most elite rugby league championship, and that per season, it is the most viewed and attended rugby competition in the world. It must have some very good matches if it's considered the world's most elite championship.
But I recommend Shogun 2. Yes,it has DRM but I think the whole game is worth it and don't worry about being a mess. It's one of best TW games out there and it's very simple akin to Rome days.

It sounds good, but I need to get my backlogs under control before I actively seek out more stuff.
Well, aside from buying more from GOG. That's different. ;)

Well, in response to my asking about the number of threads folks have favorited, I whittled mine down quite a bit. I can now see the general discussion on my monitor without having to scroll down.

To tell you the truth, I feel so naked.

I hope all of you thread regulars are doing well! I'm way too busy processing tax returns to try to keep up with this thread every day, but I hope no one minds me dropping in when I have a chance. :)

EDIT: too few entries in my current giveaway. You guys should enter for a game if you are even halfway inclined! :)

Perhaps if it ever comes to GOG I will give it a try, but other than that I will have to give it a miss, as I'm not that big on games with DRM (I have never even bought a game with DRM).
I also want TW here. It's one of my favourite strategy series of all time.
But I still highly recommend Shogun 2. Have to try Medieval 2 someday. Is it as good as Rome(which is rather hard,Rome is the magnum opus of the franchise)?

That's a very nice article. Australia definitely tends to be more passionate about their rugby and cricket than over here. Which is probably what spurs your teams on to winning so much.

I played all of the games up to Medieval 2, and it's definitely the better of the series at that point. It's also got a very strong modding community and it's easy enough to mod it yourself, which helps prolong the game and make it more fun. The expansion pack to Medieval 2 is quote good as well, it even has it set in the Americas, with the Aztecs and Mayans (and others).
