ddickinson: Hello, Agent! *good morning hug*

How are things over in the colonies? :-)
*good morning hug*

Things are good right here where I am sitting. I can't speak for the rest of the county... I don't follow the news at all.
I read that you are doing good. That's nice to hear :-)

I guess I need to hone my skills as an Agent. I'm supposed to be stealthy :-P

Seems like you need to visit a training camp for sneaking into this thread :P
avatar
AgentBirdnest: That's weird... Right when I click on this thread for the first time this morning, the newest post mentions me...

I would have given up on the forums a few months ago if not for our "Sale Tracker" threads. The forums were just giving me bad vibes, and annoying me too often...
(Heh... I talk about it like I'm not part of the forums :-P)

Anyway, good day to everyone. I hope everyone is doing alright.
*hugs for anyone who would like them*

moonshineshadow: Two actually. One about a refund, where the guy is clearly not listening. I said "I guess gog does not test games on tablets", other guy "then they should write that on the homepage", me "It is just my guess, I could be completely wrong", other guy "They are not testing so another reason for giving me a refung"
What the heck how many times must I say that it was just a guess and it might actually not be true, so it is not another reason for his refund request -.-

The other one was about witcher 3 pre-order prices. I realised how cheap the game is with russian discount. And of course the first reaction to this was "but you earn much more in Swiss".

I should just keep out of stuff...
Sounds familiar.

Started getting a headache reading people who wanted a refund because some of the Lucasarts games require a joystick and they didn't read before buying the thing.

And yes, the whole Russian pricing thing, to put it bluntly, is a total clusterfuck.
Hell, the regional pricing across the board is.

Sorry that people are driving you up a wall. Been there more times than I can count, so now I actively try to dodge anything that'll make the veins in my skull want to explode.

I know the refund one, I think (I just replied to you in that one :-)). How dare they not mention a keyboard and know that he was using a tablet :-). I wonder if Steam gives refunds for tablets? I always thought it was implied that these were PC games. If they work on a tablet then fine, an nice bonus, but I assumed they were designed for PCs not tablets.

I hate that argument about regional pricing and discounts. The price in Russia is nothing really to do with how much they earn. It's due to them being a bunch of pirates that steal software and refuse to pay for anything online. They sell games cheap there to try to encourage them to actually pay for something and in hopes of stopping all the piracy.

Try not to let those jerks bother you. Sadly the internet is full of them. But at least we have a nice safe haven here where people are nice and wonderful.

*big comforting hug*

I'm glad things are going good where you are. How are you feeling today? I hope you are feeling a little better? If not, what can we do to help?

Yeah it is just a bit annoying since I was trying to help that one guy and explain refund rules. But he insist he should get a refund because the gamepage did not say a keyboard was required. But it is not even clear if this is not a bug because of him not doing all the updates etc. Perhaps it really does not require a keybord, or gog screwed up on the system req page. Who knows.

Yeah me too. For me it was clear that it was about PC games, so clearly having a mouse and keyboard. I would have never expected the games to work on tablets.

Right. The whole "no good deed goes unpunished" thing. You try, the person doesn't listen, you get frustrated, it goes nowhere, hooray.

You can't help people like that guy. He falls into one of the two categories my mother and grandmother always told me not to argue with. Idiots and arrogant people. One is too stupid to know any better and the other is too arrogant to change. If you keep arguing with them then you just lower yourself to their level.

At the end of the day, GOG sells PC games (I count Windows/Mac/Linux all as PCs). They can not possibly test every game on the dozens of different tablets out there. If they want a game on a tablet then buy a game designed for a tablet. While some will work on a tablet, that's a bonus, it should not be taken as a guarantee from a games distributor who sells PC games.

*another big hug*

Yeah. And all that for $4 refund. But yeah it is not about the money but about the principle ;-) That must be why he mentioned the price so often :D

Do you think he did make a refund request the day he bought the game? It seems strange that he would wait for over two months to start complaining on the forum about it all.

Right. -laughs while shaking my head-

I wish I could set up a Paypal to send Support bar money. I have no doubt whatsoever that after dealing with certain people, they could use a few drinks.
On a bathroom break so I'll say good morning to all senpais here and hugz to everyone!
So I just checked the FAQ here on gog:
What is GOG.com about and what are its features?
GOG.com is a digital distribution platform serving fantastic computer games and movies at kick-ass prices
Perhaps my definition is not correct but for me that makes it clear it should be for normal computers so clearly having a mouse and keyboard.

I am not sure about that. Seems really strange.

Yep, they could probably need it. I would never want to work at support for something. Must be horrible.

As someone else in that thread said, the requirements also don't mention a monitor or speakers. Some things are considered standard in computer gaming. As far as I know, gaming on a tablet is classed as mobile gaming, not PC/computer gaming. I do often wonder how old the people are who make such threads, not that that really matters, of course.

I still find it strange he waited two months for all this. But who knows with people on here.

Edit: A blue just posted and it looks like it was the guys own fault about not getting a refund.
