moonshineshadow: If you have them and had some time to read them tell me what you think of them :-) Since I really liked them but tastes are different so I would be interested in your opinion.

ddickinson: I will have a look tonight at my list of books. My partner made me write a list of them all to make it easier to gift me books and not get one I already own. I have so many and keep a lot of them boxed up in the attic, so the list of them is actually quite handy for times like this when I need to check if I have a book or not.

I will probably be done with my current reads by the beginning of next week, so I will start one of the Raven books then and let you know what I think.
I have a list excatly for the same reasons. My mum and I like to lend books to each other and gifting each other books so we needed a list to avoid duplicates :D

CarrionCrow: Just remembered. Need to watch A Serbian Film at some point, as well.

That's one I wouldn't recommend to anyone sane.
Never heard about it.
Never should have Googled it... +__+ holy sh*t.........

Yeah...sorry about that.

It's infamous, and for some really horrifying reasons.

There are a few movie reviewers that I've watched, and it managed to heavily mess with all of them, despite their sometimes long experience with really awful exploitation-type films.

gunsynd: Banjo Patterson....
Thank you for the suggestion. The name is new to me, but I will definitely have a look at some of his works.

For some reason, every time I speak to an Australian I get the image and sound of William "Bill" Kerr in my head singing "♫ There was a wild colonial boy, Jack Duggan was his name..." He was an old Australian comedian who used to star alongside Tony Hancock. I though he was a very good actor and comedian. He sadly died recently, I believe.

I'm usually not taken in by horror movies ("Saw" etc.) (because they're not "credible" enough)...
Disturbing movies like "A Clockwork Orange" or "Funny Games" affect me more...
But I really don't think I could bear this one. And I only saw a few pics... >__<

Yeah...that's the one reason I'd want to see it.
If I can sit through that? I really don't need to watch another horror movie again.
Nothing else will ever match against the horror of that.

LaPtiteBete: Eeeer... Not really... :-/ I like XVIII-XIX th centuries romantic authors...
So you are a big romantic at heart? Do you prefer French romance authors, or do you like a mixture?

My mum enjoys a lot of thrillers and murder mysteries. She loves authors like Agatha Christie. I'm not to big on those, so we don't usually borrow each others books too often. My dad and brothers love borrowing my books, they rarely tell me when they borrow one, I will just walk into the room and notice a gap on one of the bookshelves. I don't mind, they are free to help themselves anytime. My only three rules are that the book has to be one off a bookshelf, as any book lying around could be ones me or my partner are currently reading. The second rule is that they must look after the book when they borrow it. The third and most important rule for me is that they don't ever borrow one of my old, expensive, and irreplaceable history books that I inherited from my grandmother. They are my pride and joy when it comes to my books.

That seems like a good way to handle the borrowing of books. Since I do not live with my parents there are no rules here. I just bring her some books when visiting and take some :D And then sometimes my father reads them as well (but he does not have so much time so he only reads some of the books). And if my siblings come for a visit it might happen that the books are then lend to them :D But I always get them back in the end and they are carefull with my books :-)
My mum sometimes reads thrillers or murder mysteries but not very often. And I also do not really read them. The onliest time I prefer TV over books. For crime stuff it is quite relaxing to just watch a crime series on TV if I feel like that :D
And I can understand that you do not want to lend such precious books as your history books to others, especially when you got them from your grandma :-)

Yes, unfortunately... :-|
I don't have any preference, even if I know more french dudes than foreign ones ;-) (I love, for example, Victor Hugo, Gérard de Nerval, Alfred de Musset...)
What would you recommend me as english authors (Oscar Wilde, ... then ?)

They don't borrow books too often, only when they come to visit. It was worse when I was growing up and we all lived together, but now I don't mind it if they borrow the books. They used to bring them back in horrible condition when we were kids, but thankfully they have grown out of that and take care of the books they borrow now.

I do not mind lending them some of the more recent or readily available books I got from my grandmother (not that they would really want to, in-depth factual history books are not for everyone), but a lot of them are very rare, very expensive, many are irreplaceable, and several are far older than my grandmother was. She was a historian and she collected a wealth of books on history. It partly due to sentimentality, but also due to them being irreplaceable to me if anything should happen to them.

There is nothing unfortunate about that, nothing to be ashamed of for being a big romantic at heart. I am a huge romantic when it comes to my partner, just not when it comes to books.

As for English authors, well that depends what genre of book you are after. For romantic stories, there are authors like Jane Austen, Shakespeare, or Charlotte Brontë. I am not too up to date on more modern romance authors, due to me not been big on the genre.

gah -.- Perhaps I should handle the gog forums like AgentB does. Most of the time only visiting this thread and perhaps sometimes thread I know that will not annoy me.

That's weird... Right when I click on this thread for the first time this morning, the newest post mentions me...

I would have given up on the forums a few months ago if not for our "Sale Tracker" threads. The forums were just giving me bad vibes, and annoying me too often...
(Heh... I talk about it like I'm not part of the forums :-P)

Anyway, good day to everyone. I hope everyone is doing alright.
*hugs for anyone who would like them*

Understandable.
At least here, I can have some faith that every person who frequents the place is actually polite and intelligent. That's one seriously rare dual commodity.

Two actually. One about a refund, where the guy is clearly not listening. I said "I guess gog does not test games on tablets", other guy "then they should write that on the homepage", me "It is just my guess, I could be completely wrong", other guy "They are not testing so another reason for giving me a refung"
What the heck how many times must I say that it was just a guess and it might actually not be true, so it is not another reason for his refund request -.-

The other one was about witcher 3 pre-order prices. I realised how cheap the game is with russian discount. And of course the first reaction to this was "but you earn much more in Swiss".

I should just keep out of stuff...
