ElTerprise: I kinda assumed that already. Not a huge fan of that nonetheless.

I guess i'll eventually get it in a sale....
Don't get your hopes up. Most of them aren't all that great. xD

Probably best.

How are you doing?

Makes it even better...not that the sidequests in City were really great in the first place...

Good to hear, and good here too :-)
I like Guild of Dungeoneering's art style, but it is probably not for me... Prison Architect looks interesting though. I'll have to take a closer look at it, since I'm a bit of a managerial-sim nerd :")

...
Has anyone tried Prison Architect? :-O
Good moaning.

There's something I've been thinking about. How do publishers justify morally and businesswise when they sell digital books at exactly the same price as their printed versions, or with a ridiculous token discount?

They don't.

They simply gloss over it and hope no one asks the obvious question. Why is it the same price?!

A printed book offers much much less profit for a publisher than a digital one. A printed book has printing, distribution and retail costs. Add all of those up and the publisher sees approximately 40% of the cover price. Whereas with a digital book 100% of what you pay goes directly to the publisher's pocket (I'm intentionally disregarding Amazon's cut because... fu*k em! And lots of publishers have their own webstores allowing you to bypass Amazon entirely). The costs associated with digital distribution are almost negligible.

Basically I feel like I'm being swindled. They're selling something that has much higher profit margins at the same cost. And they're doing so right in my face. In fact sometimes I've seen the digital version priced even higher than the printed one. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Digital books should have from 30 to 50% discount price over printed versions. Printed books should be promoted as luxury items while the digital copy should be considered a cheaper alternative. After all with a real physical book you don't have to deal with your device not rendering the text properly and most importatnly you don't need an expensive separate device to read it.

Anyways, enough ranting, time to get those Masquerade books from Humble.

Good morning, lovely folks! Been halfway busy and halfway in space. I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I've been too busy with lifestuffs to game much lately, but I get in another round of Dark Souls, wherein I finally reached--and was then killed in one hit by--the Gaping Dragon. I was able to get off a single ranged attack first, at least. I then played a bit of Beyond Eyes to try to ease the tension created by Dark Souls.

Watched the rest of season one of Stranger Things, which I just loved.

Oh, Agent, I haven't tried Prison Architect so I can't comment on that, but as you mentioned even a passing interest in Guild of Dungeoneering, I figured I'd tell you my thoughts on it... didn't hold my interest long on PC, as it just seemed too simple. Very cute art, always thought it would have made a better tablet game. But they *did* just release an Android version on the Google Play Store, and I believe it comes with all the extras / dlc and such for just the base price (which is cheaper on Android.) So if you have a tablet, I'd recommend the game highly, as it's quickly become one of my favorite tablet games to play when I'm sitting out back letting Sarge run around.

*big hugs all around*

Sounds aboot right. I agree totally - digital books ought to be cheaper than physical ones. And I think the same should go for movies and games as well. Why should games be $60 both on the shelf and in a digital store? I dunno what the cost of printing discs and boxes is, but it should be subtracted from the digital copy's cost. In a perfect world, of course :-p

The simple fact that it costs nearly 4x as much here as on a tablet is already a bit of a turn off for me :-\ ... I don't understand why there is such a huge price difference. It's the same game on PC and mobile, isn't it? If they are going to sell it for only $4 on tablets, they ought to mark down the price of the PC version.
[/ranting]
Anyway, good morning, Akh :-) I hope your weekend was nice as well, and that August will treat you well! *big hug*

It's quite a crappy thing to do, but sadly it seems quite common. Unless you're Square Enix, then you sell your games for $20 on mobile and discount it to $15 when you port it to PC. ;)
I had a hectic but nice weekend, got a lot done around the house, enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch at some local place I can't remember the name of, practiced driving again (and not just in a parking lot this time, so that felt like progress)
I hope yours was lovely as well! I dislike heat more than I can state, yet August is one of my favorite months. We'll be going on a little vacation in a couple weeks, and I'm quite excited.
Time to make coffee. And to drink some store-bought iced-coffee in the mean time, as I'm a bit of a zombie this morning.
*big zombie return hug*

Dude, are you playing with mods? You have to play with mods. By mods I mean, the one mod, DSFix.
Also I need to add you to my friends list so that we can engage in jolly cooperation...
Which you need a mod for.
I'll explain later.
