Fantasysci5: I'm $10 over what I wanted my budget to be for the Steam Summer Sale, but I can't narrow it down anymore. Like I've tried, all day, and I can't justify taking another one off because I want them all pretty equally. $10 over isn't too bad, right? :P

zeogold: At least you lived up to your tagline, I guess.
...
Remind me to start recommending you games. *evil chortling*
haha I really am a sales addict. I very rarely buy a game if it's more than $5 or not on sale (unless I'm really into the series, like The Last Crown). I keep thinking, it will never be this low again! :P I love sales, even when I am so tortured. :P

And please do recommend! My wishlist is ridiculously long with all of the games I may want someday, and I love hearing about ones that may have slipped through the cracks or that I wasn't excited about before but with your recommendation I would be. Fair warning though, most games that people find popular I don't usually like very much (not really into shooters, or even rpgs).

Fantasysci5: How is your day going Zeo?
I'm doing alright. I got a chance to visit the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum today. The whole cult thing is a bit odd, but the place is rather informative. The grounds look as if they really were straight out of Egypt.

Oooh, sounds cool. I like occult, not sure about just cults though. ;)

You obviously haven't used the greatest cheapskate tool there is:
https://isthereanydeal.com/
You can check the history of any game you look up and be SURE it wasn't at a lower price ever before.

I would ask what genre you're into, but judging from that description, I'd say you and me are in the same boat (I think you also previously stated something about visiting adventuregamers.com? That's a favorite website of mine).
What kind of stuff do you look for in a game? Let's start there.

I actually use isthereanydeal.com a ton! I like to see if it's the biggest price drop a game has had, etc. And yes, I used to write reviews for adventuregamers.com, though I just gave up my mantle since it would stress me out some. The last review I wrote was "The Last Door: Season 2". I'm glad you love it! They do quality, in-depth reviews and I used to be a regular on the forums.

I'm glad we may be in the same boat for genres! I'm not very good at puzzles, but I love the story and characters the most of any game, and adventures are good at that. I absolutely love dark/horror (like Lost Crown, Black Mirror). The Longest Journey is another favorite of mine. I like virtual novels, kind of biased towards otome, and I love King's Bounty (turn based strategy). I'm kind of all over the place, but if it has a good story/characters, I am up for it.

Ah, impressive. I've used that place for some time as far as reviews go. I have it as a personal goal of mine to own and play what they ranked as the top 100 games (with a few exceptions).

I can't say I know much about visual novels (most of them are either about romance or in anime style, two things I don't care for), but as far as horror and story goes, have you tried the Dark Fall series?

Of course! It's from the same developer as "The Lost Crown", and I love them dearly. Well, Journal and Lights Out, didn't much care for the 3rd one. I went to England on my honeymoon and saw the town The Lost Crown was based on, and met with Matt Clark (Barrow Hill). Sorry, big fan girl. :P

...well. SOMEbody's been busy.
Howsabout Scratches?
I'm also gonna assume you've already played Sanitarium.

haha Yep, big fan of the horror genre (at least in adventures, survival horror is another story). Adored both Scratches and Sanitarium. Scratches had an awesome story and love that quaint England feel. I love asylums, and Sanitarium's story was so trippy, dark, and awesome. I've played Blackstone Chronicles (also an asylum one) as well. I love dark.

Already played all the recommendations so far, huh? Well, at least I've been in the ballpark so far.
The Penumbra series, maybe?
The Black Mirror series?
Phantasmagoria?
Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals isn't quite "horror", but is fairly dingy-looking and a solid adventure game.

You are very good at being in the ballpark and recommending! Ah, now I tried the first penumbra and the action/stealth part of it was a bit too hard for me. I think I kept dying by that dog. Black Mirror is very dear to me. Phantasmagoria is not one I've played, is it really good? Same with Nikopol. Think they are up my alley?

I also really love the supernatural, besides just horror, so I love ghosts and stuff, like the Gabriel Knight games, The Blackwell games, etc.

Also, thanks for helping me think of games, Zeo! I appreciate it. :)

I haven't personally played Phantasmagoria, but I HAVE played Nikopol. It's based off of a trilogy of French books. The gameplay is your basic adventure-type game, frequently running off clever (at least, in my opinion) timed sequences. Not too hard, but does require a bit of planning.

Supernatural? I'll think about that.

Sure, no problem. I love recommending stuff. In fact, I'm still trying to think of a way to start a YouTube review channel this season. Just gotta actually get to writing stuff and get my mic to work.
Good Mornign everybody how are you? :)
