j0ekerr: Hurm out of morbid curiosity, what tickles your fancy?

One thing I find far more annoying than simple stupidty is not admitting to obvious mistakes because then you'd have to admit you made one.
Like being unable to enter or leave the kitchen while the fridge door is open. HOW THE HELL DID YOU THINK THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?!

PS: GOG's naughty word filter rides again.
At the moment, I'm considering grabbing some list items, things like Ghost 1.0 and Epistory, along with other things like Neptunia 2 and 3, as well as Age of Mythology.

Some people are oblivious. They don't think about the stupidity of the idea, retain the flaws and go forward anyway.

moonshineshadow: Yeah... the shop is really slow at the moment. Wanted to buy a 60 cent game and it took ages. It was added to my libray after a while but I never got any email about it...

j0ekerr: Which leads to the inevitable question. Why?
This sale has no game, no promo, no dailies or flash deals. nothing interesting going for it. It barely has an animated gif at all. And the discounts are a lot less appealing than those of former ones.

So why do people keep flocking there?
Because of reasons? :P
No clue to be honest. But well, people always want things now and not later ;-)
Ho yeah, the Steam sale... *goes to check*
Of course the ONE GAME I would actually want to buy on Steam is not on sale :-p
I'll check Steam again in the Winter ;-)
Finding that I actually like how Steam's doing its sales now.
A 12 hour "flash" sale isn't really a flash, or an 8 hour, or 6, or 4.
If you're going to go fast, go original concept Insomnia-level fast. But if you're not, you might as well put everything out on the table immediately.
No bullshit waiting, no timers, no attempts at hype generation. Just put it all out so the customer can decide what they want in full right away.

So, Crow ... Just wanted to bring this to your attention. Since I know how much you love the other one.

You also bore him out of his skull.
I liked the concept of dailies even more than the flash sales. But the point was that they were something to look forward to. As it is, it makes no sense to make it last for a whole week. You've already seen everything it has to offer on the first day, I have no reason to go back tomorrow. Might as well be a bloody weekend promo.

-laughing- Sorry, but I already knew that's a thing that exists.
Pretty sure I'd have to be massively medicated to buy it.

Hahahaha, I should have expected you'd know of it. :P I don't think my brain cells can take another one either ....

The feel of a two-day summer promo doesn't bother me. I'll look through everything, put potentials on my list, narrow that down based on sale prices and budget, buy what I want and be done, no pointless sale watching required.

It's a combo of Planet Stronghold (puts finger down throat and makes vomiting noises) and a card game. (looks at the place where my Magic games used to be before I got sick of them not being good and hiding them)
There's nothing in that mix that appeals. Not even a little. And of course, the 20 dollar price tag is good for a joke, but nothing else.

Yeah, I'm struggling to come up with even one reason why someone might want to purchase this. :P Oh good god, just thinking about the original Planet Stronghold is enough to make me cringe ...

That's a natural response to having played the game. You're not the only one who feels that gut-level revulsion. ;)

I still can't understand that logic. It most certainly wasn't pointless if it allowed to grab a larger discount. I enjoyed checkng everyday to see what was new. You didn't have to watch the sale either. If you didn't want to. If you lacked the time you could buy what you saw and still get a not inconsiderable price cut. If you chose to participate (and that's the right word, since you took part in a game) in the sale you had something exciting to look forward every day. That's the same principle behind Insomnia. Saying good riddance to the dailies format almost sounds like resenting the chance at a larger discount.
As it is now, it's the same as watching paint dry. Former sales were fun, they had a raffle-like quality that distinguished them from regular ones, This one not only feels like doing your taxes. It's completely indistinguishable from a normal weekly one. The only thing that changes is the amount of games.

j0ekerr:
It's easy logic for me. Sale watching wasn't ever fun, aside from Insomnia. (Which is now a screwed mess of what it used to be, so odds are that's over.)
I started the thread because it wasn't the sale that was enjoyable, it was the people who showed up for them.
Add a year and a half onto that, and sale burnout is definitely there. Would rather it be as fast a process as possible.

Regarding the discounts, everything drops over time. Even the one sale format I did really enjoy, I've always known it to be an utterly silly, totally unnecessary meta-game designed to make people impulse buy more.
