j0ekerr: In that case, I think I will just tell the legendary edition to do unspeakable things to itself and bu...rent the vanilla version.

Out of curiosity, what is its biggest problem? Aside from it's clunky FPP combat system?
avatar
CarrionCrow: No consequences to anything.
Choices don't matter. (You can kill the emperor while working for the empire and noone gives a rat's ass on any side. You can work for every evil entity in the game, committing murders, ritually sacrificing your buddies, and it means nothing.)
It ends up being one incredibly samey cave exploration after another after another after another.
The towns have no feeling of life to them, just the same recycled crap.
Dragons lose novelty after you're so powered up that you can kill two or three at a time without breaking a sweat.
You'll spend dozens of hours doing nothing but organizing inventory, which is made worse by the inventory system being a pile of shit.

That's what comes to mind right off the bat.
The SkyUI mod fixes the inventory problem and is a must have for anyone wanting to play Skyrim. Really though, a fully modded up Skyrim with Dawnguard and Dragonborn is a pretty decent game in its own right. It still has a weak story/main quest that can be pretty boring at times. I usually just ended with just treating the game as an exploration/rpg hybrid and went off the road to wander the lands of Skyrim and creating my own story for my character.

FoxySage: I only know FFT from watching this let's play of it. Though seems quite enjoyable.

penumbren: FF Tactics is very different from the portable ones. The storyline is much more serious and I think longer, although to be honest, I have terrible luck with all of the Tactics games and have never beaten any of them. They tend to get lost, misplaced, or have bad things happen to saves. I think I'm just not really meant to play them, which is a shame because I really like them.
That just seems like a plus in my book, plus from what i've seen of the combat mechanics. It seems quite fun to tweak various classes and see what works and what don't.

avatar
FoxySage: That sounds like the kind of crazy thing i'd try out just to see if i could do it. *laughs*
avatar
penumbren: It's quite a challenge, and it's just about the most coin-grinding you'll ever do in an RPG. White Mages in FF can actually fight and do decent damage, but only "decent," compared to, say, "amazing," and their armor ALWAYS sucks. I suspect four Black Mages would be more expensive only because you'd have to keep stocked on potions at all times; with White Mages, you can let that go somewhat.
Yup, definitely sounds like something i'd try. Sounds a like what it'd be like having an all mage party in DA: Origins with Shapeshifter/Spirit healer specializations. Except it'd be a little easier since they'd still have access to good damage spells and ocmbos.

Still quite frustrating since shapeshifter is the worst specialization in that game dealing weak melee damage and can't use spells while transformed.

CarrionCrow: No clue about what kind of lottery you're speaking of.
Giveaways are always appreciated. Sure you'll make someone happy for their end of the year what-not. =)
As for Dark Souls 2....would say do console if you think the machine will hold up and not fall apart on you or something before you can finish.
If you get it for PC and can't run it, then your coin's been burned with nothing to show for it til you get an upgrade.
Look up 22nd December Christmas Lottery. It is as I have said a very BIG deal. The whole country participates, even those who never play it throughout the year, buy a ticket for this one. It's traditional.

The console is holding well, by which I mean, the hardware that is NOT the disc drive, which has been dead for months.

I had the console on a vertical position all this time, lack of space meant I couldn't place it horizontally. I'm pretty sure that aggravated the problem, since the damn thing won't even open when vertical, it will when placed horizontally, but still not read anything.

Well here it is. Two days should be enough shouldn't they?

PS: They're showing Six days seven nights on TV right now and... MY GOD, THE NIPPLES!

Holy crap....you certainly weren't kidding. That is some SERIOUS gambling right there, with over 200 years' history to boot.
(I wonder what it's like to live in a country with an actual culture....-laughs-)
If everything's working but the drive, I'd still say go with the 360.
25 rep doesn't sound bad. Can't think of anyone who hangs around on a regular basis that hasn't surpassed that without even trying.

Should be. Gets it done before the 25th, which should be helpful for you and anyone else who's prepping for stuff on that day.

*Raises hand* I had that low amount while still being a regular forum lurker. >.>'

I'm more of the exception though. 25 seems reasonable enough.

Well, it's good that you actually started talking, isn't it? If you're around and you're not an asshole, you should have a better rep to show for it. =)

Yep kind of old and crusty. The christmas lottery is a very important annual event. As an example, the lottery was automated a couple of years back. But the big drums with the little numbers on them and the "singing" of the number in the traditional way are still done for this particular draw.

At least yours has some significance to it, something real.
The gambling I see is lame at best, pathetic at worst.

I think I got at least up to 20 or 25 by the end of the summer sale, which was when I joined in. I know that I had somewhere in the vicinity of 30 when Fall Sale started. But I didn't even lurk in between.

The first 15 or so are rather easy to get

It's kind of a nation-wide raffle where everybody participates as part of the christmas cheer, not out of gambling. Even workplaces will buy tickets and re-sell or give free participations to their workers. In fact, a great amount of people who don't buy their own ticket, buy a participation from work.

And since everybody participates, everybody knows someone who got at the very least one of the minor prizes. And most of the time the stories aren't pretty. Since they find themselves having a significant but not huge amount of money suddenly dropped on their laps, they spend lavishly and without much thought, something that ends up having an upkeep that they can't afford. More often than not, one of the big Mercedes or a sports car. And end up even poorer than before.

EndreWhiteMane: I'm sitting here in my robe with a space heater on my feet shivering uncontrollably, which probably isn't good.
You guys lost me about an hour ago with your way over my head rpg talk so I think I'll retire to my nice warm bed for while. See ya all a bit later. ;)
Oh oh, this sounds like you have a fever. :(

Stay hydrated and get lots of rest, hope you feel better soon.
I think I'll take your advice Carrion, and go for the console version. Then once I'm done with the game I'll send the damn thing for repairs. I want to play those New Vegas DLC at some point.

It'll do it good. I've opened it a few times, but removing the outer casing means you still have the internal casing, and that must be filled with dust bunnies I could probably mate with.

That's if they send me back MY console and not a refurbished and even more ancient model than the one I have...

Although I wouldn't mind it too much if they fucked up and sent me one of the new ones with integrated wi-fi. They use the same hard drives, don't they?

Sounds like a good plan. Need to do that myself at some point. Frigging machine loves to overheat at the drop of a hat, no matter how much I allow for ventilation.
(Big reason why I'm going Sony for my next chunk of hardware.)
Finally got warm, thought I'd drop in and say hi. ;)

Hey there. =)
Good to hear that you got your temperature regulated.
Things have quieted down a fair bit, as you can see.
