The standard expectation is to see it change since you're doing a search, but it stays the same and you have to rely on knowing that each page shows 50 titles to know anything's been filtered.

Yeah, I thought you were seeing a change in the top number.

My apologies. It's confusing and looking at it, I didn't explain the "hey the main number's not going to change, no matter how you filter the catalog" part very well.

Not a problem. I think I've gotten used to doing it in the very odd way required to get the right numbers.
On many other sites, the number would change, of course. You'd have the information without needing to know items per page, or that you can only see the difference at the bottom, and you wouldn't need to manually count to see what you don't have, and you wouldn't need a script to block out what you already do have.
