j0ekerr: I'd recommend downloading the full unofficial patch.
To be found here.
The GOG version already comes with the parts that fix the worst of game-breaking bugs, but not the whole thing.
Ah good deal - these are the sorts of pointers I'm looking for - I bookmarked the initial release thread because there's A TON of good discussion there - but the downside is... there's A TON of discussion ;) And it seems like there are a lot of different ways to go. I'm super excited to play this one, but knowing its history and the options I want to make sure I do it in the best way for me.
So for both of you - things that interest me - playing the game in a fairly standard manner, but with the bugfixes (obviously) and if possible with pretty visuals (the screenshots look fantastic - is that possible "out of the box" at modern resolutions / widescreen without heavy patching?).
Things I'm less interested in - "added" content / heavy overhauls of the interface and game mechanics. Barring something being totally broken or downright stupid I'd like to play the game as originally released. Examples of stuff I wouldn't want to be "tweaked" - I know in some of the BG games they redid THAC0 in mods and in other games starting gear or stats are reworked - I wouldn't want that kind of adjustment without a STRONG reason.
So, fire away Joekerr / Crow!
Hi! LOL at puppy acting up ;) I'm in luck today - home and despite the fact that I desperately owe my guy a walk, he's letting me tackle tasks (and amazingly hang out here as well).
