penumbren: Question for you all: Can you please help me figure out a way to limit someone's internet/wifi access?
This is not for someone who uses this computer, so it needs to be by device. (In fact, I need it for multiple devices.)
I have a Netgear modem/router that does not allow a guest network. It also apparently only allows one filter per MAC address, which is less than helpful when I need the person to be able to access the wifi from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It won't allow me to do something like "block from 2:30 p.m. until 11:30 a.m." because that violates its internal logic.
I'm at my wits end* because I'm trying to get a family member to get off their ass, stop wasting their time online all the time, and actually go get a job and become a participating, functional member of the household. The three hours a day of internet access was the compromise so that they could use online job searches. (I know, I know. But.)
* The fact that I'm also fighting with the state's ACA website to actually TELL ME what else they need before the enrollment deadline (which is Sunday) is not helping. I've called, I've emailed, I've looked up support... I can't figure this thing out.
A:) Set the routers clock off by 12 hours so your blocking all falls within one day.
B:) Give me the model and I'll see what I can do or what blocking software I can find.
C:) Does it really fall on your shoulders to be responsible for this (deadbeat) person?
