j0ekerr: Less than a minute left, let's see what this weekend's sale is.
avatar
moonshineshadow: You know that weekend sales start on Fridays? ;-)
Time is an illusion, pants doubly so.

Hurm, I actually didn't know about F.E.A.R. apparently I've missed out on a true FPS gem which managed to be sincerely scary. Unlike Dead Space, which while I enjoyed it, was based mostly on jump scares.

Although the twinkle twinkle little star nursery rhyme being sung, while exploring a room full of corpses with writing on the walls written in blood was genuinely nerve wracking.

adaliabooks: It's nice to know I'm not the only one who never got the fuss around Harry Potter... :)
Do not get me started on that poor excuse for a series. The amount of stuff that is strikingly similar to other stories is just appalling, not to mention the horrible charters and story line.

ddickinson: Is it just me, or have all these new releases by big developers had very reasonably pricing, compared to a lot of the stuff we are getting on GOG?
They're old games, used to be that an old game just sat there collecting dust not being sold anymore, nowadays they're still profitable. But I'd figure there's no real pressure from corporate execs to charge full retail price on a game that's already past its financial prime.
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: My goodness, your actually going to buy a game???
Party time again!
Glad you found something you like. :-)
avatar
ddickinson: Well there is no way I am buying the Harry Potter stuff. :-)

I enjoy a good FPS, but then I enjoy a good mixture of games. FEAR was a very nice game with an interesting story, so I will be fun to play it again.

How about you? Any games that catch your eye?
Already own Bastion, nothing much else there for me. I would buy Lego Indiana Jones if it were here.

You could hide in our tree castle if some lynching mob appears :D As long as they have no torches everything will be fine ;-)

Actually I sincerely agree.

That is not to say I didn't enjoy it, although part of the appeal was childhood nostalgia. However I only really enjoyed the first 3 books, the fourth I plodded through and the rest I read without any interest. The final book I never got around to reading I couldn't muster the interest.

The series was at its best when it was bright and cheery and full of childlike wonder. When it tried to become more grim and gritty its many flaws poured out.

I much prefer Sir Pratchett. His books are superior in every possible way.

Not to mention that Voldemort wouldn't have lasted a day in Ankh-Morpork.

I have to admit I've never actually read them, not more than snippets anyway but everything I'd read / heard marked them down as children's books and no matter what people tried to tell me about being full of stuff for adults too I just know they could not engage me like proper fantasy does.
Hum... Looks like my money is safe once again ;-)

adaliabooks: I've played demo's of the Lego games on my 3DS and wasn't hugely impressed, but they always get good reviews and are supposed to be a lot of fun.
HERESY! BLAM!

Don't go around comparing a 3DS game to the big systems version.

That's true, but several old games on GOG have a high price tag. I am just pleasantly surprised to see some of the more greedy corporations not following this trend. I have never understood why they charge so much for old games, as you said they were just collecting virtual dust.

Who knows, maybe with both Disney and WB here, we will see it appear in the future.

I will bring my longbow and arrows, perfect defence from lynching mobs. :-)

I have only read part of the first book, but I couldn't finish it. I have heard enough from good friends to know that series is not for me. It is okay for what is it, but it got way too much praise and attention, all of which it does not deserve.

Lucky you. I read part of the first one, but didn't like it. I heard from friends about the later books and from what I was told it was definitely not something for me. I'm also not a fan of the author herself, but that's not really important.
Just read about Lego Batman and saw that you could also be the bad guy. Might be fun after all, Batman and Robin are such dorks. :-)
FEAR looks good but NOT something for people with anxiety issues. :)
No money for games right now though and not sure I would ever buy something like that at full price.
I'm safe.

Yes they are, specially the hot pants wearing nambla bait boy.

Well put. ;)
By the way DD, it's obvious you have a profound dislike for Mrs Rowling. But I have no indication on your opinion of Sir pTerry.
Can I has hug?
And hi DD senpai and Owl senpai!
