ElTerprise: Maybe. It might give a different understanding to some reactions etc....
That is a good point. People are of course going to see things differently with games like that.

FearfulSymmetry: Yes, I suppose the game was a bit bland in general. As you can see, it didn't really stick with me.
Me neither, not a very good game at all, and not really even a good walking simulator, IMO.
avatar
ElTerprise: Well i generally don't really like horror and i avoid most of the movies in that genre but i still like some of the classics in that genre like The Birds or The Fog ;)
Oh yeah, those are pretty good. And The Shining, that's another classic. (By the way, my aunt became super frightened of birds after seeing The Birds when she was young. :P)

Yep, I've definitely played much better and more engaging games. And it's really quite short too.
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: Ooooooooh, that's it. Now I finally get it. Some people just can't see the artistic value and deeply moving story. ;)
-laughing hard- Yeah, that's exactly why...

Also, since we talked about it briefly, I'm still playing Danganronpa. Now at 30 hours, with the final chapter in progress.

That is the only way to give games like that at least some replayability :)

Right. Forgot that one :)
Me too because i watched the Bird the first time when i was a kid :P

Maybe we were just not the intended audience? It seems that many did love the game.

True, but that game did not look like it had enough hidden content to make up for the short play time. The playtime which will get a lot shorter the second time as you know where to do. I think I read that someone finished the game in a matter of minutes when it came out.

Probably not - i'm not going to test that any time soon ;)
Well that might be possible depending on the way the game triggers some events. If you can get the one key early on it might be possible to finish the game pretty much immediately but that case sounds like the person knew exactly what he/she were doing - but speed running is not the goal of that game...

I think they would have had to know what they were doing. If I remember correctly, it was used as an argument at how terribly short the game is, especially compared to the asking price. Which I can understand, for many people, myself included, the price is not worth the hour or so of gameplay, that has very little replayability.

Well that's definitely true. The game is overpriced - especially because it lacks replayability...

I wonder why they have not lowered the price after all this time? People must be put off by the price, and add to that the bad reviews and it must drive many potential customers away. For a lower price people might be more tempted to try it.

That's a good question - but it's been on sale quite often and it apparently didn't sell that bad with around 650,000 owners on Steam (according to Steam spy) and the game is even more expensive on Steam (17,99€ on GOG vs. 19,99€ on Steam).
Well I will be calling it a day, my partner will be home soon from teaching her evening class and I need to be getting a few things ready before she gets home.

Have a lovely day, everyone. Take care!

*big hugs and silly waves*

I did not realise it sold that much. I wonder how many were bundle sales or purchased on sale? But even more reason to now lower the price to attract those on the fence. But maybe they don't need to.

Have a lovely evening, Mr ELT! It has been lovely chatting to you. *big hug*

Me neither. Was surprised to see that number. Well that in cannot tell. Maybe they'll do that when they patch the game to Unity 5 - i read somewhere that they were planning to do that after the console release....

I wish you a lovely evening too. Take care! Yes it was - as always :D *big hug*
Okay, finally beat that thing. And it only took 34 hours...
Good evening, lovely people of Fred!

I hope you are all doing well and have had a lovely evening so far, or day, or what ever time it is for you? :-)

*hugs and waves*

34 hours? Was that the visual novel game you mentioned previously?

Congrats. No you only have to wait for the release of the sequel ;P

Good evening Crow :)
