ElTerprise: Better than my time/money ratio on Firewatch - which still was really worth it though :)
34 hours out of that game doesn't sound bad at all :)

Interesting. So basically the sum of all pieces made it an enjoayable game despite some less-than-stellar parts.....
But i guess it's still a game for those who like visual novels because from looking at the screenshots or video footage i cannot see me playing that game...
It's a bit weird. I wouldn't have said I liked visual novels very much at all, but I still got through that without it being yet another shitty, masochistic torture fest.

omega64: I think I missed that part of the game. :P
I guess that makes sense.

I wonder why I'm satisfied with it considering it cost me 18 bucks.
It just left this warm feeling inside of me.
Though that might've been the forest fire. ;P
Wait, do you mean you were not playing the Star Wars edition? :-)

I guess you just took out of it what some others did not. Games like that appeal to people in different ways, and the subject matters also effect us all differently. But if you are happy with the game despite the cost, then that is good. Do you think there is much replayability to the game?

I do not, there is some different dialogue, but everything you do is still pretty much the same.

Oh sorry to hear that....i hope your next game will be just that experience :P
I just cannot really think of playing visual novels at all but then again i never really expected that i like walking simulators like i did ;)
avatar
ElTerprise: I know what you mean - the perspective is really weird - i'm not sure if a isometric perspective might've been better.....time will tell :)
avatar
ddickinson: I think isometric would have been a lot better, the current view just takes away so much detail. But maybe that was their goal, to limit the effort needed for the design of the game?
Are you talking about the current game KIM? That perspective caught my attention too. I really do like the idea and look of it, but from a gameplay point of view my first thought it "Wow, that looks like it might be hard to play for an extended period of time."

For small, "tight" levels (like in the other newish games here like Masterplan and Door Kickers) that seems fine but I have a hard time thinking that would be "comfortable" to play.

EndreWhiteMane: No it's not the only one by any means, out of several new ones I checked only 1 had GOG on their website!
Curious Expedition I consider kind of silly fun, I like it a lot.
You should check out Renowned Explorers as well. I've been playing a ton of that one - similar sort of game.

omega64: Just finished Firewatch in one 3:30 hour sitting.
It was great. I wonder why some people were disappointed with the ending.
avatar
ElTerprise: You were faster than me :D
I don't understand that either. It was a perfectly fitting ending. Was a great game from the start to the end.

ElTerprise: Yes. That might be a reason. Either due to lack of experience or lack of money....
I managed to break the game in the first 10 minutes. :P
Fell through a log on the trail. Couldn't get back on it due to invisible walls.
The game hadn't saved yet so I had to restart. xD

Danganronpa isn't just a visual novel. You also have investigations and "Trials".

How did you manage that - and where exactly? I'm curious...i mean i had a lesser glitch in the scouting camp with my the character stomping out a non-existent fire but otherwise i didn't have any problems :)
But at least it happened early on...

I have that one for when I get tired of CE, takes awhile to see it all. ;-)

Okay...it's an enhanced visual novel then :P

CarrionCrow: Realms is one I've been putting off for way too long. Besides just that, my favorite Let's Player actually started doing a full run of the game, so I want to beat it. Then I can watch the video series without ruining the game for myself.

Yeah, Pillars will be fine, I'm sure. It's just going to take a long time to beat.
That sounds like a good plan. I am not sure what I think of the game, I think I got it during a sale as it looked like a nice classic old game. I am sure I will get around to it sometime.

And then after you finish the base game there is all the DLC to look forward to. :-)

ElTerprise: Yes. That might be a reason. Either due to lack of experience or lack of money....
Most likely, although I am sure they will say that is the artistic style they were going for. :-)

I wonder why they decided to charge so much, but then I remember that Gone Home was a similar price and even shorter without the lovely visuals.

Yes, that is the game. For games like Door Kickers I can understand the view, as you need a birds eye view to plan things, but for this new game I think a more isometric look would suit it better.

Of course. How can you not see their artistic vision ;)

Didn't we call it Door Knockers? :)

In the part where you're still getting backstory text moments hiking up the trail.
Walked onto the log and fell right through.

I can, I just don't really like it. :-)

I was going to call it that, but I did not know if Ixamyakxim would get the reference to earlier on the thread. :-)

Development time maybe? I guess it was the right price for a lot of people. I was hesitant but did eventually buy it.

Ah i see. Well better at that point than later. Btw: Did you find the turtle? If yes how did you name it?

Good point :)
