Hi everyone

I noticed that consortium is on sale for 80%. I saw a few hours later that I got an email from gog as it was on my wishlist.

Steam has the same discount.

Does anyone know why ?

The only reason I found is they launched their kickstarter for the sequel today.

...and it was free for a day on steam last week I think.

Sequel. Bah. More like the missing 3/4 of the game.

It was actually free during this whole weekend and will permanently stay on the library of those who redeemed it.

Only on Steam, sadly.

Guess the devs did forget GOG again...

Or maybe GOG said "no"?

Either way, fantastic game despite the excruciatingly long loading screens that some of us (who have Intel integrated graphics) had to deal with.
It's a grand reptilian conspiracy. They're trying to make you care too much about shit that doesn't matter.
It was free all weekend?!

Well shit! :(

I managed to snag it, but it's loading is horrible on my pc.

On Steam, so who cares. Besides, you really didn't miss all that much. It's very dissappointing and outright unfinished, maybe 3 hours long.

Yep. I'll give you a tip (if you haven't already figured it out) it'll take a good five minutes or so to load. It's basically loading (as far as I can tell) a few hours worth of voiced dialogue, plus the branching scenarios. Once you get into the actual game there is no loading (save for one near the very end of the game) and the game is very responsive to your actions/choices. Five minutes for a potential four plus hours of uninterrupted gameplay sounds like a good deal when you think of it that way, right?

Oh and I say three hours but I can't remember exactly how long it took me, I think the average is between four and six hours total.

Took me about 15-20 minutes to get to the actual game.

Ouch.

At the worst (for me) it just kinda timed out, it would load for five or six minutes and then the window would freeze. No change in my PC settings, sometimes I would have just reinstalled the game fresh and it would do that, so it wasn't save game bloat. They really should've found a way to optimize that initial loading, it's pretty unforgivable in my opinion, despite really enjoying the game itself.
Okay well then I'm happy after all. :P

Thank you all for being there for me. :D

I remember Thief had really atrocious loading times but that isn't a problem with the GOG version. When I bought the game on disc when it came out I used to click 'load', go get a beer, drink it, get another, drink it, feed the cat, see what was on TV, and then play it.

A lot like Painkiller. I loved that game, but the levels loaded so slowly I got used to reading a chapter of a novel or two waiting for it. And people say video games are killing reading!
