I just found something i wanted to share.

But it seems to be replies of people annoyed at 'PC Master Race' and other details, vs 'silly comments by idiots'. Seriously multiple times there's comments of 'install a mod to make the game 60 FPS' or 'add a mod to add another CPU' which is in the same level as 'my car isn't fast enough' and someone might reply 'add headlight fluid' or something, totally ignoring the laws of physics (which is the silliness of most of it).

I hate quoting this website but it;s the only reference I can find right off that's not a gaming website:

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-highest-frame-rate-fps-that-can-be-recognized-by-human-perception-At-what-rate-do-we-essentially-stop-noticing-the-difference

edit: I:m looking at the answer from Paul King. After a certain rate, it all becomes flickers.

I think the concern of any player should be if the game actually works and is fun :P

Agreed 100%. And there's situations at hand too. In my younger years i didn't like computer gaming because buying a $200 video card or whatnot every few years seemed daunting. While today even integrated chips can duplicate much of the effect of stuff from 2005 and before, and at that point you can do very cheap gaming at very high quality, as long as you don't have to have the latest and greatest.

Then there's the technical level of building your own computer. While it takes an hour with parts (and is half the cost of a pre-built) most people aren't willing to put the time into it, thus console gaming is preferred, if only for simplicity.

I just wish more options were given to console games, disabling unneeded visual effects and the like. But oh well.

What we're seeing is the irony of people that can't find humor in something.

StingingVelvet: Every time people act like I should make fun of those who are completely ambivalent to resolution or framerate or whatever I feel like they're saying I should look down on my wife, since she couldn't care less. I ain't lookin' down on the wife, sorry. Different people care and know about different things. My dad is a total idiot about computers but he can put together a '57 Chevy with his eyes closed. So yeah, see things through their eyes.

Though I do hate it when, after I tell someone in real life that I'm a PC gamer, they reply "isn't PC gaming dead?" That's happened less lately though, thanks to... well, the service which shall not be named.
I'm of the opinion that if you use a tool, you should reasonably be informed on how to fix and maintain it to a reasonable degree. If you're trying to use a microwave, and you're standing there confused because it's in timer mode or something, and you can't figure out how to get it back, i am going to make fun of you. I don't care if it hurts your feelings. If you don't know how, to a reasonable degree, something works, you are a danger to yourself and those around you. The same thing can be said about computers, believe it or not. The same thing can even be said about consoles, though to a lesser degree. I don't care if you "don't have an interest," and neither does danger. Making fun of these people is a form of ostracism which is often ultimately for their own benefit.

I would give a pass to your father, if and only if, he refuses to use computers, because that means he has respect for his tools and his lack of knowledge.

Plus, anyone who makes ridiculous claims that are counter to reality are showing vanity, and that deserves ostracism. I honestly think that is why we humans developed humor: to ostracize the lack of humility. If you don't know something, talking about it with pride is the communication of misinformation, which is unethical. Laughing at someone is far nicer than what some other cultures throughout history have found worthy as a deterrent. Get off your high horse.

I enjoy referencing Vsauce, which did research that said somewhere around 150fps is the limit...They also go into resolution of the eyes and focus which was interesting too.

I can't think of any culture with any deterrent to that.

Smug bullshitting is, far more than the concepts of gift or incest, THE universal anthropological constant.

With all due respect, no where in that first video does he mention anything about 150fps. In fact his graphics twice show the 30 fps example. He also talks about blurring once you get above a certain speed which is mentioned up above with the flickering issue.

The person (Dave?) who he's with even questions where he gets his facts at about the 4:35 mark.

It's been a few years since i viewed it. But i do recall people can tell the difference from 60fps vs 120fps, but it starts to get a lot harder to see the individual frames/differences above that; Course that's in the best case scenarios (as some can't see the difference)

I might have to re-watch it, but the upper framerate is somewhere around 150. Since there's ~140hz monitors, that might be as high as you go. Course maybe that's mixing in some old memories of TB talking about his monitors and Gsync, i forget exactly... This all blurs together.

This isn't counting the 3D where they double framerate (and with special glasses to give each eye a frame for the 3D effect)

Depending on the severity of the misinformation, some cultures removed tongues. You'd be surprised how big a deal the smug bullshitting can become in a hurry. Today, it's absolutely magnified by prices: how many people spend thousands based on the misinformation being made fun of, here?

And, if we're going to go to nature, smug bullshitting results in death in some animal cultures. Humans' most expensive organ per mass is indeed the human brain. That's what we evolutionarily focus on. We're supposed to be improving through that to evolve in leaps and bounds. We're doing a terrible job in regards to misinformation.
