they already failed to make a good sequel to the witcher 1.
the witcher 2 and 3 are really different games.... and I think the witcher 1 is still the only real good game of the series.

I'm sure Cyberpunk 2077 will be the same... a console game, with good visual, no cross-platform support (only windows).

The only thing that I really want is that gog stay drm-free. Without online-only games like gwent. Without microtransactions. etc...

My thoughts about Cyberpunk 2077 are pretty simple. CDPR has made one amazing game after another and neither I nor anyone else can predict what their future games will be like, however their past history is golden in my eyes so I have exactly zero concerns about their future games. Until they actually put out something terrible, they've got my support and I'll sleep fine at night waiting for the game to come out patiently whether it takes 6 more months or 6 more years, and whether they ever say a word publicly about it or not until it comes out. I'm patient, perhaps because I'm Canadian.

In the mean time all sorts of impatient people will scratch their eyeballs out due to lack of information and speculate all kinds of good things on one side of the spectrum and all kinds of unfounded horror stories on the other side, and the two groups of people will poke each others eyes out in online forums etc. because hey, if certain information about something doesn't exist and everyone wants it badly enough why not just make some stuff up and start fighting with everyone else online about it Fight Club style!

All while us patient folk sit back and eat popcorn patiently waiting to lay down some green on the actual game when it actually comes out.

That's what this thread is all about. I fail to see how anybody can have concerns when there is no data available.

As far as I'm concerned, CDPR can take as long as they need to finish 2077. Well OK I'd rather not actually wait until 2077 to play the game; however, I'd rather they be patient before releasing it.

Well, that depends. We know a whole lot about the scenario, even though CDPR will have to adapt the original 2020 scenario to the year 2077. Through early posts by Mike Pondsmith, we know that they're trying to bring as much of the original ruleset into the game as possible (I'm not enthusiastic about this idea). We also know it will be a "sandbox" experience much in the vein of the Witcher games, will have an open world, and encompass the massive "Night City" as a main hub.

CDPR hinted at heavy customization options for your avatar. That thankfully precludes e.g. the ego perspective. We can assume it'll be the third person perspective like in the Witcher. And of course, as opposed to the Witcher, in the Cyberpunk scenario guns are the weapons of choice. I would expect them to go into more of a Mass Effect direction for the shootouts. And fuck me running, I'd love that.

I don't actually think that. Merely an example - and an excuse to write about eye scratching since I found that line hilarious. ;) But "Whoops, game got cancelled" is a reality of the industry and it doesn't always come with warning signals for the customers nor is it always promptly reported. Sometimes devs run out of money, sometimes the product isn't good enough, sometimes Mercury is retrograde or whatever. No data can mean anything: "Not far along enough in development to make everybody's jaw drop", "absolute secrecy policy in effect", "all this time passed and we've got nothing to show for it" are all equally viable. It's basically Schrödinger's Cyberpunk at this point.

Right. So nothing to be concerned about.

No more or less than with any other game that hasn't been released yet. People like speculating/worrying. It's the internet.
