This is a game which is a simple point and click adventure game set in the fictional castle of Greveholm. It's based on a Swedish Christmas show but the game itself is a stand-alone to this show, with only certain references (such as the interior of the castle, some character references and the "plot"). The plot is to begin with not really told, but as you go deeper into the castle and solve puzzles, you will find out what you are supposed to do.

I played this game as late as just a few weeks ago and found it to be enjoyable, although a bit short perhaps. The game have also created two stand-alone sequels (although the third game is more of a prequel and the second game is totally different from the first and third, since it's more like a RPG).

Gorgeous and funny P&C adventure released in 2001. Playing as protagonist Gilbert, your task being simply to retrieve the stolen Mushroom of Phungoria in order to prevent the execution of your grandfather, the awared guardian of the sacred mushroom for that particular year. Along your way you will encounter many colorful characters, solve quirky puzzles and enjoy beautiful hand-drawn sceneries, all spiced up with refreshing humor.

Über-gory FPS/Point-and-click adventure where you're stranded on an island filled with zombies.

The game has a bit of the same relentless vipe as the underground comics of the sixties. Actually, some versions of the game also included a black'n white comic. One of the adventure elements is that you have to kill a guy because he is kinda irritating. Quiting the game gives you an animation where your character blows his own head up with a shotgun. Oh, and you shoot zombie children too. This crazy shit deserves a new release!

I bought ENDORFUN at an obscure sale, mainly because some guy recommended it with an enthusiasm that seemed religious in nature. And indeed, this thing seems miles away from the style normally expected from the puzzle genre, and is instead deeply rooted in new age and spirituality.

The raw mechanic of the game is that you move a dice around on a grid, using the arrow keys. The goal is to navigate the dice so that it is positioned at a certain spot with a certain side facing up. Like with Solitaire games or minesweeper, there is some basic tactics that you will learn, and I remember memorizing a number of moves.

The awesome abstract platformer THOMAS WAS ALONE shifts the perspective slightly, giving the game an unnerving edge. Likewise, ENDORFUN don't show the grid in isometric view or any similar controlled manner, but instead screw the perspective around, sometimes even turning the grid upside down. The wackiness is made complete by the Palette-shifting psychedelic backgrounds, which are no less than awesome.

The soundtrack of course consists of new-age world music. Each track is extremely short - 5 seconds or so - playing on a loop. The repetitive nature makes it more in the category of chanting than of traditional music numbers. Some of the music is quite good, especially in combination with the psychedelic backgrounds. However, it tends to get a bit too much in the tracks with the much adverted subliminal messages, where a voice is saying stuff like "I feel joyful now ... I love being alive" over and over and over again.

I really loved this game! But it was sort of a guilty pleasure. With its extreme new age style and its loud in-your-face subliminal messages, this trip is so bad that it's good.

Sort of is with the making silly movies ! It's pretty fun !

But chances might be silm because Microsoft

Strike Fleet and Genewars were the absolute winners of this round, the latter even claiming the throne. Other games with impressive amount of votes were Quarantine II: Road Warrior and The Reap.

Gorky Zero is a prequel to Gorky 17 (known as Odium in some countries) by the same developer.

THE DEVIL INSIDE (2000)

The Devil Inside is a very underrated game from 2000 with a very interesting concept and story elements. If you enjoy Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Fahrenheit as well as survival horror genre (Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill) this is a game you want to play. OK, let me just give you a quote that will be enough reason for everyone to vote for it:

"Shortly after the game's release, one of Poland's most popular TV stations, TVN aired a report on the game, accusing the distributor, CD Projekt of selling satanic games in commonly accessible kiosks."

CD Projekt, come on now, it is a crime that The Devil Inside is not already on GOG! The game is presented as a reality show and deals with subjects like satanism, alter ego... The name of the character is Dave and Deva, with obvious reference to Devil. When it was released, it had gotten very high scored reviews as well as pretty low ones, another point that demonstrates the game was a perfect candidate to become an underrated title. Finally, I really love the cover art.

RAILS ACROSS AMERICA (2001)

It is very odd that Railroad Tycoon II has more than 1400 votes and this one merely 59 at the time I wrote the first review and still only 75. It is one of the best railroad simulation games ever made and is published by Strategy First, so there is no good reason for the game not appearing here (other than lack of votes maybe). The game also covers the 19th century in North America, probably the best setting for a railroad sim. The reception among the critics was quite well, but for some reason Rails Across America never became very popular among the gamers, which makes it by all means an underrated gem. The game has a very engaging and deep macro-management system and sweet graphics for its time!
