Well, i finally decided to play that, despite my Origin copies of it are bugged and unlaunchable. I installed my retail copy of main game + expansion, applied the patches and over them, the no-cd crack. But i have some questions about the gameplay, this time...

1) Troops seem quite vulnerable and expendable, weaknesses and strengths against other troops included (i know that mechanism). They die on me all the time and i seem to be needing to be constantly mass producing them and throwing into the fire, kill some enemies, then have them all die on me, before anyone can get FULLY promoted... Am i doing something wrong, or the death rate and ratio is really high?

2) Are vehicles really squishy and short lived, or am i doing something wrong?

3) Secondary abilities are too many and confusing; but is using them as often as you can, supposed to make your units more effective (in killing and outliving other units, specifically)?

4) To access Scrin campaign, should i beat both GDI and NOD? Or one of them is good...?

5) Kane's Wrath has full campaign, or half the stages of the main game, like previous titles and expansions of old, of the series?

Kane's Wrath is its own game.

As far as im aware you beat the full game to get Scrin. (worth it)

Secondary abilities looks pointless but come in quite useful. Stick with them (machine gun ontop of tanks for example).

Vehicles are a little sensitive but they do become stronger with upgrades. Troops are vulnerable but they're cheap and lethal in large quantities.

That was a little backwards. :D
1+2) In general infantry are weak to bullet weapons and resistant to rockets and tank shells, and tanks are weak to rockets and explosive weapons and resist bullet weapons. A bunch of rocket squad infantries can take down a lot of tanks if they aren't backed up with something that can handle infantry. With some practice you'll know what weapons are best against what. Some vehicles can also run over infantry, except Zone Troopers and Black Hand, if memory serves me.

3) Some secondary abilities cost money to activate so be sure to know which ones do and which ones don't. A lot of them are situational, like that GDI plane's ability to fly to any spot on the map instantly. I don't think there's any you really need to use in the middle of a big battle, though Zone Troopers can use their jump jets to reposition themselves quickly.

4)Complete the GDI and NOD campaigns. The scrin campaign is 3 or 4 levels or so.

5) I believe it is basically a new campaign. I've never played it.
I loved the game, but had to stop midway since the patches have killed the single player mode, and I couldn't find any way to revert to earlier patches in Origin.

I have a little question about the DRM protection, if I may : is the retail copy need an Origin account or any form of registration to Origin to be played ? What about the steam version ?

The game is 8 years old... it pre-dates that kind of stuff for the most part.

There use to be a way to turn back the patches. Should check the modding community.

No, retail copy doesn't need Origin (thankfully). But needs a no-cd crack. Command and Conquer 3 maingame on disc has some issues during installation (i pressed ignore button at the probem's report and progress bar got stuck near the end, but i pressed the cancel button and no button and finished normally) and Kane's Wrath on origin has some issues, like the game's key pop up that isn't accepted and an error report that the verification server is offline and try again in few minutes, which translated to Kane's Wrath being completely unplayable, at least from me, on origin. EA circus at its finest. GOG should get those games too; tweaking and DRM-Liberation would do them justice.

The progress bar does not get stuck. It infact just takes a very very long time. Seriously, I had the same issue so I just left it and it does eventually install. It does the same thing un-installing.

Yes, i know that, at first, during the first headline of progress bar it needs a lot of time, but at the second head line of the progress bar, it got stuck indefinitely for me. Near like 70 and a little percent. Only when i cancelled the install and pressed no to it in chain (to not quit it), i got the message "Installation Complete".

Weird, I haven't had that problem. Could your disc be faulty?

Nope. As i posted before, i keep my boxes and especially discs, in mint, top condition, as if they haven't been touched by the hands of a human... And other people claim a similar problem on same game's disc (on other forums). And other games of EA malfunction at installation, much like the first "Battle for Middle Earth", which required a patch and procedure to repair installation, too.

A disc does not needs to be scratched or physically damaged to be faulty. I have had a few cd albums, games and movies over the years that were simply bad presses. It happens.

Thanks for the answer. I will try to find a retail copy, I have any hope in a GOG version.
Command and Conquer 3 is my favorite C&C Title.

I played trough all campaigns with hard settings, even with the patched versions that makes some missions really dificult. I'm not sure how to revert patches in origin version, but in the retail version you only have to remove the .SkuDef file of the version you don't want from the installation folder. Then it should start with the lower version. You can also edit these files or possible make a mod that not use the files from the patches.

darthspudius: Kane's Wrath is its own game.
Kane's Wrath is not completly its own game. The Retail version need also Tiberium Wars installed to start. But Kane's Wrath has indeed all the files it needs to start in the installation folder. It don't use Tiberium Wars Content.
And Kane's Wrath has a full NOD Campaign. No new GDI or Scrin Mission.

And it should also be mention that the retail version of C&C 3 use Securom. So a cd-crack is needed to play it on updated Windows.

Is someone here talking shit about my favourite RTS franchise? And don't you guys dare talk ill about Read Alert 1 and Tiberian Sun.
But seriously,C&C 3 is one of the best entries in the franchise and I hate to admit it but I really like Tiberian Twilight and RA3.
