It’s up to you alone to stop an alien invasion from the depths of the ocean in this legendary, home computer era shoot ‘em up, dredged up and faithfully rebuilt for modern platforms – X-Out Resurfaced, coming soon on GOG!

In 1990, the year of X-Out’s initial release on C64, it stood out as a breath of fresh seaside air in the stale shoot 'em-up space. It didn’t take place in “space” as so many games of its genre did (and still do) but instead went for a dive through underwater worlds.

In 2024 the highly challenging underwater shoot ‘em up from the game development legends at Rainbow Arts is finally returning. ININ and Ziggurat have collaborated to bring you a faithful remake completely rebuilt from the ground up and greatly improved.

Wishlist it now!

Getting R-Type vibes from the gameplay, I'll wishlist for now but it looks promising.

Wonder if the original version could be included as an extra C64 ROM.
Neat!
Please be good! Please be good! Please be good! ...

I hope they also include the Amiga music... and an original Competition Pro joystick...
looks awesome!
Wonderful news, wonderful release! It's really great to see the comeback of a Rainbow Arts game. Wishlisted!
Shut up and take my money! :)
Great, looks really good!

And given the publisher maybe this is good news for the future?
How much bloom do you want in your game?
YES!
Neat! Can I turn off the bloom?
I got an impression from the trailer that you can play this version also with C=64 (meh...) and Amiga (yay!) graphics and music, in addition to the modernized graphics and music.

Was my impression right? Would be neat if it allowed that, but I don't know if the C=64 (meh...) and Amiga (yay!) versions were included in the trailer only for reference, to let people understand how bad players had it in 1990 and how fortunate we all are nowadays, with our remakes and shit.

wolfsite: Getting R-Type vibes from the gameplay,
Not a coincidence of course, clone that it is. Just like Rainbow Arts did e.g. "Garrison" which was a direct clone of the Gauntlen coin op.

There's also a shooter called Z-Out by the same company, a sequel to this. I guess it is a clone of T-Type then? No idea why Rainbow Arts skipped Y-Out.

Whoa! This is good stuff!

We all got our favourites for sure... But X-Out on Amiga... and seems they include Amiga version...
With Chris Hülsbeck again doing the soundtrack... This is the best side-scroller on any platform for me.
The Amiga graphics are just top tier, and the whole mood is just wooee!
Still apparently until february...? But def a must buy. Good job getting this to release!
So you took a nice little Amiga game and just covered it in rather obnoxious bloom effects? Can you disable this effect in the remake at all?

I'm interested in this release for the remastered Huelsbeck soundtrack than anything, can anyone confirm if you can mix and match graphics and sound modes here?

I agree. And this is a good sign that shenmue 3 will stay here and not get delisted and maybe when/if Shenmue 4 is released it will launch on GOG (maybe not day 1 but who knows)
