An old-school RPG will arrive on GOG.COM on 15th January 2020. Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls from XSEED Games revitalizes the time-honored formula of the original dungeon crawler series and adds modernized visuals and sound to the mix.

tremere110: I wonder if this is because of the backlash from rejecting it or because GoG knew about the legal issues with this game and waited for resolution of it. Well, it's coming here anyhow so yay!
What legal issues?

Good to see another XSEED game coming here, although I personally would be happier with the original Wizardry 1.

Who cares what you feel are good games or are you just triggered because of those games subject matter? They are high on the wishlist so they deserve to be released. but you most likely some stuck up smug guy who thinks his taste is above everyone else.
Very good to see this is showing up here!

Now please reconsider your rejection of Argonus and the Gods of Stone. Excellent adventure game that needs to be here along with the developer's other game, Shadowgate.,

Hatred could have been good, the engine is interesting, but the game is fundamentally broken. It is very repetitive, and there is no progression. Vehicles are a joke, and there are many bugs, even game braking bugs, which have never been patched. The major flaw, even though it is strange due to the subject, it is boring to play. the grey color scheme grates after level 1, and everything becomes samy, everything the game has to offer is seen in level 1.

Agony, as well, is quite buggy, and while it looks nice it is not fun to play.

It is better and more fun to play Postal 1 or Splatter - Blood Red Edition instead of Hatred (even the Shooter games are 10x better...). And there are much better horror games (even with sex) out there than Agony....

Have you played them, or is all you know about them "oh, controversy!!!!" (I have played them both)

Edit - anyway, this is a pre-release thread for a different game, so I will leave it there

They didn't have permission to use the Wizardry IP at the time they wanted to release it. Likely some other company had exclusive rights to release a game using "Wizardry" and they had to wait until that expired at the end of the year.

But as many of the uninformed complainers, they don't let truth or facts get in the way of their complaints about GoG. XSEED never said why it was rejected, but if you listen to certain liars here, they will tell you how it was rejected for being too "niche" when no such thing was said.

We don't know why it was originally rejected. The demo may have really sucked. GoG may have had a contract excluding them from releasing another Wizardry title. Among other possible reasons.

We'll have to see if this title has really been improved from the PS3 game that received mediocre reviews. At least the price is decent and not $39.99 or the like.

Anime Wizardry? Weird. I hope the gameplay and such make up for the character art. Would much rather have Ultimate Wizardry Archives.

Machinators: Ahh... remember when GOG said this, AN OLD WIZARDRY GAME, said it was "too niche" to release on their store?
They never said that.
Cool.

Not so weird when you consider that RPGs weren't really big in Japan until the early Wizardry games crossed the pond.

Anime Wizardry is really popular in Japan. In fact, when the IP died out a Japanese company bought it up so they could make more Wizardry and Japanese ate it up like chocolate. That's why the later Wizardry games are all weeb bait.
Can't say I like the voices or the character portraits.

Don't worry I own them both on STEAM and would buy em here again. I like how you feel that if you don't like a game it suddenly falls under the category of not being a good game. Like I suggested at the start nothing but a smug guy who thinks he is the standard for good taste, You must be so full of yourself in real life.

Taste differ. but it seems arrogant people like you think the world needs to conform to their taste or else it's not worth making. Gotta love people like you who think games like these shouldn't release simply cause you say so.

I would personally vote for any game a user wants here for the whole idea of having a choice but you most likely would stop a person from having it simply cause you're too full of yourself.

Sch00l girls go to war, ain't that classic?

:sarcasm:
The character designs are really gorgeous. I'm glad for such a game with the famed wizardry mechanics. It's going to the to-buy wishlist when it's out.

Ignore RWarehall he just full of shit and made excuses after the game got rejected. The legal issues only came up on launch day and the rejection was way in advance. Do you think Xseed would offer a game if they were aware of the legal issue in the first place? No company would be that stupid it happened last minute.

RWarehall is a known GOG shill he'll make excuses for everything when it comes to curation and he's ok with all the rejected games and if you even suggest the matter of GOG giving consumers choice he thinks you should just follow in line like communist Russia or be shot for daring to call out curation or GOG in general.
