A PSA for those not in the know: the game will also have an arachnophobia mode, which will replace the spider protagonist with a pink fuzzy ball with two eyes, while the gameplay and physics will remain the same.

Great idea!
The spider is cute and I like the positive 90s vibes and the fluidity of the movements.

I don't have a problem with spiders, but was just thinking this choice of protagonist might potentially scare off a lot of people. Thanks for mentioning it.
Wait.... we have a game announcement called webbed, and we have a DLC release from a studio named Spiders........ nah I'm just reading too much into it..... unless that's what they want me to think.

It certainly is. Global warming is just them reptiforming Earth, after all :P. It's all in the subtext if you read carefully!

I'm all for accessibility features - as long as they're optional and don't dictate the game in question's direction or design as a whole - but in this particular case... why would you choose to play as "a pink fuzzy ball with two eyes" over a specimen of the most un-spidery looking and behaving sub-family of the spider class?

I think there are a bunch of us who generally don't like spiders but make some exceptions for jumping spiders, however I don't see how you can call it unspidery looking. It's like a mini tarantula, cute but still spidery. I'm happy to see more of these kind of options even if there are very few people who use them and it shouldn't take much effort at all on their part. For some people with genuine arachnophobia it might be helpful (and just knowing that it is there if needed might help some people decide to get it). There are a bunch of games I'd play if only they had a no blood option.

Looks like a great idea for a game, Cyber Hook is one of my favorites as is Action Henk (wishlist, was DRM-free in a Humble Bundle once but I'm not sure if it is available DRM-free now). This one looks like a traditional platformer of the Donkey Kong Country style, although at least the music is lacking relative to DKC (and why start the trailer with a King's Quest tune?). The swinging thing is a nice mechanic so good to see more games using it.

Looks great, but seriously, who is going to replace the spider, just look at those adorable pixels. :P

Thank God! Because we all know that there are virtually no indie platformers out there for those people to choose from!

Awww :)

Peacock spiders are adorable too.
That looks REALLY cute! There were some cool games with sipders on the PS1 - can't rememver the names -, other than that the theme isn't exactly overrun.

but the ?crow? is scary...
