Get ready for an open world RPG in which you lead a group of mercenaries in their search for wealth across a massive medieval universe – Wartales is coming soon to GOG!

In this already highly-praised title you’ll be able to explore the world, recruit companions, collect bounties and unravel the secrets of the tombs of the ancients! All with beautiful audiovisuals and impeccable gameplay.

A century has passed since the fall of the Edoran Empire at the hands of an unprecedented plague that swept the nation. Now, the land is rife with mercenary work, banditry and thievery, with honor having become an almost entirely forgotten virtue.

You’ll lead a group of unscrupulous characters in a massive open world where combat, death and a thirst for riches will dictate your day to day life. You are not the hero of this story, destined to usher in a new era of peace. Your goal is solely to survive and thrive in this harsh and hostile world, by any means necessary.

Expect a detailed system of developing your group of mercenaries, journey through a vast, vibrant and mysterious world, plethora of activities for you to do, prosper and ultimately write your story, 4 players co-op, and so much more.

Soon enough, Wartales will provide countless hours of fun on GOG!
A turn-based game about a band of mercenaries... That formula never fails :)

GOG.com: Coming soon: Wartales
For a moment, I was confused.
I was thinking: "but isn't that game here already?"

But then it made "click" and I remembered the other title: "Wartile" https://www.gog.com/en/game/wartile

XD
Great!!!
Great news indeed. Let's just hope for a timely arrival.
This could be another great one. Let's hope! That coop mode for sure.

So it's a fantasy world but with only humans? Meh.
I have seen it around and I like what I saw. I didn't exoect it to show up on GOG so it's a nice surprise. Certainly interested.

One could argue that this makes the game more unique than a standard medieval high fantasy setup.

Just my opinion, but I view fantasy as a way to explore concepts that are impossible in our world, such as magic or fantasy creatures. Having a fantasy setting and then having it basically just be regular dudes bonking each other on the head with swords in some generic vaguely-european grassland is just boring to me.
I don't mind having a human-only world (though I would actually prefer a world where humans *don't* exist), but there are still a few concerns:
* The graphics look too fancy for my tastes
* There's only one menu screenshot
* On that screenshot, there's a "carrying capacity" stat, and carrying capacity is a mechanic I tend to dislike.
* There's no mention of magic on the page. Is there magic? Does the game have a good variety of spells? (A medieval setting without magic is of no interest to me.)
Glad to see this one so soon on GOG. Wishlisted for now. Also, nice timing as I started to play their other game, Northgard, two days ago. :)

Looked up some info because the game interests me. There is no magic. That said a lot of abilities might seem like magic - raining arrows down for an AoE attack or throwing fire bombs for a fire-based AoE. The setting itself is low magic however.
This seems like something ill enjoy. I spent alot of time on Battle Brothers, and i see similarities.

Abilities that do damage aren't that interesting to me.

what I want are things like powerful AoE healing abilities, or abilities that modify stats and the like.

In any case, this probably isn't the game for me, as my preference is common magic (most characters can use magic), and failing that, I'd rather have high magic.
This might clear up a few questions about the game and mechanics...
