A night to remember.

Thimbleweed Park, a delightfully surreal point & click adventure by the creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Five high-functioning weirdos find themselves tied together by the freaky secrets of a forgotten town. At the center of it all lies a dead body that no one seems to really care about. And yet, unbeknownst to them, it will become the catalyst for a fateful night full of bizarre events, brain-twisting puzzles, and weaponised sarcasm.

Pop goes the, hm, park I guess? Or is it the forum? Something like, let's give this thread some visibility.
I'd totally forgotten about this one, I figured it had been canceled.
Looking forward to it.
Oh wow, Ron Gilbert still makes games. Ron Gilbert is as important to adventure games as Ian Bell is to open world games.

Gonna have wishlist this.
*looks up Ian Bell*

Never touched an Elite game. I've started played on PC not that long ago, did I miss out? Knowing a bit about game development history his name and game never appeared to be meaningful to me(read: never were mentioned).

On Thimbleweed Park:
Totally forgot about this. It seems an interesting experiment to me, the old Lucas Arts stuff is one thing, but will this sell to the modern audience? What will its price point be? Is this only the beginning of an adventure gaming renaissance? We'll see.

I, for once, feel no urge to play it right away. But that's because I barely know anything about it, yet.

No thanks. I love, absolutely love point & click adventure games, but I hate it when people try to forcibly turn back the clock "because oldschool" and reject the improvements made in the genre along the way. Like highlighting hotspots. It's not in this game. Why? Why force the pixel hunting (literally, given the graphics) on players. It's just a waste of time. It's tedium. And most importantly- no one is forcing anyone to press space (or whatever other key) to use it. It's just there as an option to use. Or the verb interface. Come on. It's been made so much simpler and faster to use. It's as if you could only control four units at once in the new StarCraft games :P

I'm not a big fan of pixel graphics, and the "yuge headz" style here also isn't to my liking, but some of the backgrounds are very nice, and a mystere-themed, X-Files-ish point & click would certainly get my attention if it wasn't for those intentionally backwards design choices.

Variety is too niche.

This looks real good. Humour seems spot on.

Well, if that's the case then I will never touch it. Pixely art style is okay I guess, don't like it, but see the nostalgic factor.
Neglecting basic improvements that could potentially make a game more enjoyable and are optional anyway, that is really not the smartest thing to do. Limiting their potential userbase pretty much... Maybe I will watch someone playing it to make up my mind. Coming March, 30th. Could take a while.

What are gog supposed to do? Tell the dev to make a different genre of game?
