groze: I... can't really understand what kind of game this is trying to be. From the trailer and screenshots, I assume it's a mix of puzzle with platformer and adventure?
The art style is really putting me off, too. And for all those old farts in these forums who hate everything Japanese, trust me, this looks bad even for those of us who do like the manga and animé style of drawing. It looks like a cheaply produced early '90s eurojank cartoon trying to pass off as animé, thinking kids wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Maybe there's some niche market of nostalgia for that crap? I assume so, there's nostalgia for the most awful things, out there.
I generally don't come into release threads to complain about a game, unless I know that game has issues or is broken, in which case I think it's fair to warn potential customers, but in this case I'm genuinely trying to figure out what makes this game special or something someone would want to play.
[EDIT] It seems Rose City Games, the devs of this game, helped with
Hiveswap, by What Pumpkin Games, based on the (very cringy and aimed at edgelords) Homestuck universe, "[coordinating] Hiveswap's release strategy, including creating a launch trailer, managing review key distribution, market research, press and streamer outreach, and PR consulting". Assuming they, indeed, did the market research for that game and are using the same results for their own developed title, I don't see it being something most kinds of GOG customers (all the different ones there are) would be interested in getting.
mmmmhhh? weird game indeed... i had to check the videos to see what the game is about... at first sight my thoughts were; nice another visual novel that will be a nice addition to the existing collcection on GOG.
But..... and a major but it is, this is .... ?????????? my best bet would be to put it in the little girls game category like mentioned above.
There will be gamers who love this game but tbh this at GOG ? i had to slap myself in the face to make sure i wasnt dreaming i thought i was still browing the steam page.....
Anyway i dont mind it gets hee, not at all.... i do mind more or less that many other games that would have fit better were told to be too niche ....
Now i happen to be a very very niche guy, and if the commandos, fallout, jagged alliance, and all other classic games had dozens of 'sequels') ( ofcourse 2d and never fpp/no3d) i would have bought them all :D
Not because i am wealthy but just a simple niche guy, problem is niche guys always end up last they say :D
Niche is a term used in business. It basically means a product that is very popular within a certain community but doesn't have the broad appeal to go mass market. Generally any game that goes into an existing franchise will be niche.Aug 31, 2011
