The award-winning sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division returns in style! Better get ready – because The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is coming soon on GOG!

The Outer Worlds is a first-person adventure where you’ll find yourself lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy. You’ll awake decades later, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. To get the ultimate experience though, get The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition!

Soon on GOG!
So let me get this straight: People who bought the $85 edition now get to pay an additional $10 to upgrade...to the $60 edition...? What a deal!

StingingVelvet: He was replying to your point about its scope. They made it very clear it was an independent project without a huge budget and thus was much smaller in scale than New Vegas. I think they actually over-delivered on that, if anything.
And I was replying to their point that people got hyped up over... well, I wouldn't call it ill-advised advertising, just more that people saw a shiny new game and maybe didn't really bother to dive into the specifics. I saw one person who was hoping for romance options that was explicitly not going to be in the game based on interviews.

Basically laymen were hoping for more New Vegas even if the developers themselves compared it to KOTOR.

Well I'm firmly in the camp that people who don't research and buy stuff willy-nilly shouldn't complain when it doesn't meet their expectations. I've done that to myself before, and had no one to blame but me.
I never got the DLCs and I'm still mid-play. I do rather enjoy it.
Is my savegame gonna be compatible with the new version?
I may be getting that one instead of 30 bucks for the DLCs, then.
No idea how much the new version's gonna be tho?
IDK.

Fits the theme of the in game economy and politics actually.
Didn't know you could play as Regular Show's Pops!

neumi5694: I for my part enjoyed the game a lot. I liked both humor and gameplay. It was not all too long, so I could complete it in a manageable amount of time.

The bad reviews always had "New Vegas" somewhere in them, which I only played for a short while, somehow I didn't get into it.

Is it a ripoff? I wouldn't know, I played it for what it is and that was something I enjoyed a lot.
Yes, I never got the hype over NV, and must admit I didn't get into OW much either.

I enjoyed F3 much more.

If we all had the same taste, it would be quite boring :)

I just don't see why people call TOW a bad game, I enjoyed the ride. Was it perfect? Heck no, but it was fun.

Dohi64: they're calling a fucking performance patch a remaster (of a 3-year-old game) and asking 10 bucks for it, and that's only if you already have the base game and all the dlc. I've seen some ridiculous things in gaming, but this is top tier fuckery. what's worse is a bunch of idiots will still pay for it, so it won't be the last time it happens.
Well, they aim for the part of the public that will gladly spend more for some improvements (minor or not) to a game that they love. Also to the part of the public that still do not have the game.

It is not like people who already have it are forced to pay again. It is not that people who already played it will have their wetware memories deleted.

So, the hate?
I was waiting to buy the DLC which was on sale ($19?), until I found out the pricing and the best way to purchase the DLC and the this new content. I see the DLC is no longer on sale, I hope I didn't just mess up. Maybe it will go back on sale OR maybe they will have a bundle option released for people like me with just the vanilla game.

Welp I wasted some money waiting, wish I would have bought DLC on sale yesterday. It's either 60 for me to buy the whole thing or 35 to buy DLC then upgrade.

Looks like the Spacer's Choice version lacks achievements, despite the store front claiming to have them. Sigh...

Galaxy shoes that the average player has 1% of all achievements, so I guess the game has them.

I had 100% after two hours in-game. Not sure if it's been fixed yet.

They fixed it now.
I find these re-releases so weird. The game is already done, so the only selling point is that this would be a super polished edition with a few new bells and whistles.
But instead the trend seem to be "Release a buggy mess that's worse than the OG, fix a few bugs post release and hope for the best."
The OG game's done, and should not really need to be rushed to get game critical features done to meet a deadline set when the game was still in development.
The re-release should've had virtually infinite time to fix bugs and making it run well before trying to sell it, sense that is the only thing it's bringing to the table.
But I guess that the main feature of this type of business model. Release the same game again and hope nobody notices that you've added essentially nothing and that it's a worse version of the OG game.
