An iconic classic, fully remastered by the team at Nightdive Studios, through its proprietary KEX engine, allowing the game to run on modern gaming devices at up to 4K resolution at 120FPS.

STAR WARS™: Dark Forces Remaster is coming soon to GOG!

Expect all fourteen original levels, featuring Star Wars™ worlds and capital ships, engaging first-person ground combat featuring ten weapons and twenty types of enemies, Personal Digital Assistant (providing you with in game information such including map, inventory, and mission briefing), modern gamepad support, controller support, advanced 3D rendering, up to 4K 120FPS visuals, and much more!

The original 1995 Star Wars: Dark Forces raised the bar for FPS games, offering players a significant degree of movement and interactivity, a large selection of items and power-ups, and engaging environments.

In that iconic title you assume the role of Kyle Katarn, a defector of the Galactic Empire turned mercenary for hire. Katarn joins the Rebel Alliance’s covert operations division tasked with infiltrating the Galactic Empire, where he discovers the secret Dark Trooper Project. The development of this powerful new series of Imperial battle droids and power-armored stormtroopers stands to strengthen the Empire’s grip on the galaxy unless Katarn and the Rebel Alliance intervene.

With STAR WARS™: Dark Forces Remaster, every new and returning player will be able to enjoy all of that with upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for gamepads.

Make sure to wishlist the game now so you won’t miss its release or any special offer. With Nightdive Studios behind the wheel, we couldn’t be more excited!
Oooh yeah!
Great news!
Oh my Gog, Dark Forces :))))))
instabuy when here
A must have for the collector, even if I ususally still play the DOS version instead of the The Force Engine version.

Just don't mess up the controls, guys. With keyboard only it still has to be playable like the original.
Any chance to get it free if you already own the original version ?
Oooooh! Hopefully they can remaster Dark Forces 2 some day too!
Awesome! Glad to see this confirmed.

I just wish Disney would let us have some more of their other old stuff; personally I'd like Toy Story 2 Action Game, and I know people want more missing LucasArts titles like the World War flight sims.

In my eyes this game doesn't need a remaster. But great for everyone who wants it.

That's very unlikely. Nightdive after all wants to make money, same as with their other remasters (System Shock, Bladerunner). With a bit of luck we get a small discount.

It probably won't be too expensive anyway.

Most of the game is untouched anyway and only runs in a new engine which comes with a new renderer. The biggest difference to the original playing in The Force Engine are probably the cut scenes which have been altered to a higher resolution.
Hopefully the controls will be the same.

I see this as being primarily aimed at the console market, where The Force Engine isn't an option. It needs something like new campaign content to justify its existence, but unfortunately I don't see any mention of that. Also, they completely neglect to mention the game's sound on the store page, and this is another area where TFE is strong, with soundfonts that can be switched from the game's menu.

I'm sure it'll be a labour of love though, because it's Nightdive.
I've beating this game many times, back in the 90's. So awesome game, can't to play it again on my rig.
Nice!

I was just thinking about when this new remaster was going to show up here just a few hours ago, and well... here it is, hehe.

:D

To the wishlist it goes.

Btw, I also wish those of us who already own the original could at least get a discount towards the remaster.

Finished the game recently on The Force Engine, which I heartily recommend to play this game with, but I am gonna buy it anyway just to support NightDive.
