I hope you can convince SEGA/the publisher to release part 1 and 2 here, too. Only part 3 would be kind of useless...
Another Streets of Rage 4 scenario, I see.

Very much agreed. Hell it'd be great in general to see Sega's back catalog here in general, especially if they could resurrect a few of those vintage PC ports they did like Virtua Fighter 2 and classic Panzer Dragoon. Valkyria Chronicles 1 is also already DRM-free elsewhere, as are several of the "Dreamcast" banner titles.

I didn't expect this! Can't wait to get it! I haven't even finished the first 2!
Beyond thrilled to see this get a GOG confirmation.
Glad to see it getting released here, regardless of whether or not the previous games make it as well.

Personally, I enjoyed this series and am not so devoted to it to believe it didn't have its flaws and shortcomings. There are and likely will continue to be games that borrow from and otherwise adapt and improve on things it did but there has yet to be any game that has replicated that charm, quirky as it may be, that this series roped me in with. Hopefully the sales beyond the exclusivity deal are enough to show that they should put forth another installment of the series but time will be the judge of that I guess. Overall I just hope the story isn't left unfinished, or hanging, yet again for such an enormous gap of time.
What????????

How did you...

Oh, it's not Sega. :\

Anyway, i'm glad that this game will be released here.

It being published by Deep Silver, I'm not THAT surprised.

Hopefully CD Projekt can work out something with SEGA to get some of their catalogue here. SEGA is a huge name in PC gaming these days (since they own like half the big-name strategy devs), and I'd be amazing to see them back the DRM-free revolution, as well.
Noice! Speaking of former Epic exclusives, bring Ghostbusters next please! (It's already DRM-free on Epic, so it shouldn't be too difficult)

And Sega should really start releasing their stuff here. Half their catalogue on Steam runs without the client, so I don't know what the big deal is.

For the...6 or so people who want to play this, but haven't yet, I'll put it this way:

To those on GOG who complain that there aren't enough old games on GOG, this is for you. This is an unchanged Methuselah of gaming, having changed practically nothing in the 21 years the series has existed.

Amazingly clunky and unintuitive combat system that forces you to grind to actually possess any skill in it? Yep.

Stilted acting and wooden movement? Thomas Alva Edison wasn't even an actor and he could outperform everyone in Shenmue.

A gaudy series of activities that screams "THIS WAS A DREAMCAST TECH DEMO"? Aye. Now play this crane game.

Somehow fails to resolve a single chapter of a story arc over 3 massive games? How exactly the series creator planned to squeeze out upwards of 10 planned games out of the base idea "Someone killed your dad, get revenge", I have no earthly idea.

Absurd criteria for advancement? I'm sorry, could you come back several ingame hours later and meet me within this exact window? (Only Graveyard Keeper manages a similar screwup..)

Shenmue III is art, in the worst way possible. It, like Manos: The Hands of Fate is a fascinating example of how NOT TO do things, but at least Manos had the common decency to be only a one time wonder. I can only hope that for the sake of Shenue fans, that Yu Suzuki has written out the story in advance and plans to make it into a book, animated series, or movie because I dare say that the story he wanted will not be getting resolved in the medium of video games.
Well, well, if it isn't the most funded videogame on Kickstarter.
Not sure how happy i'm about it. I loved the originals back in the day and they were really good back then. But seeing gameplay from Shenmue III it did not connect with me (no proper nostalgia but rather just seeing the flaws) but maybe actually playing it might change it as well.

I would be more thrilled if we would have part 1 and 2 here as well. It's not GOG's fault but I just have extreme problems starting any series with another part but 1. It's a "me" problem but that's the way it is. The only exception I made was Saint's Row since part 1 does not exist on PC and I did not have a choice at all.

Even if this sells well, Sega is too dumb to come to the GOG side.
