Leroux: Pretty sure Breja knew that already and just meant to point out that you can't try the demo without a Steam account. (Which would be a valid complaint, IMO, regardless of whether you're fine with Steam or not.)

EDIt: Whoops, ninja'd.
he might be, but I find that argument silly, yeah, i can kind of get it when it si about buying a game via Steam ("renting" oh the hilarity) but for a demo?

I don't want to make a Steam account and I absolutely refuse to install their bloody client. So how does it matter if it's a demo or not?
Nice. And Trepang2 next please!

Why should you have to create an account on a different store and install a client for trying a demo of a game that you're only interested in buying DRM-free on GOG? IMO, saying that this is no issue is a more silly argument than pointing out that it is. If there is a demo, it should be available on all shops that sell the game, or even independent of stores, so you can try it without having to sign into a store first.

(And I say that as someone who actually has no problem in using Steam.)

Steam client IS DRM. And, as a consequence, it doesn't matter if it's a demo or not.
So his position and point of view are quite valid.

Actually no, it's the dev's loss. I will just buy any of the over a hundred games on my wishlist instead. I don't know why I should go out of my way, make an account on another store and install a client I don't want because they could not be bothered to put the demo on GOG.

The DRM discussion is beside the point, too. It doesn't even matter whether DRM is involved or not. You shouldn't have to sign up to another shop to test a game you'd possibly want to buy here.

(i said i would leave it here, but just a minor point - the devs have no loss or profit wheter you download a demo or not, we are talking aabout a free demo here, not about buying a game.... and with that, that was my last word on this matter. let the thread go back to the game in hand)

Yes, a demo that could convince me to buy the game. I thought it's pretty clear that's what I meant.
Maybe a demo will appear once the full game has been released. It could be that the current demo is outdated and not really representitive for what you would get with the full game and the dev(s) are therefore preparing a new one that people could check out. Wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah, never got that part either. In a perfect world the demo should exist wherever a game is sold though. *shrug* I have absolutely no problem using Steam that way. Hell, I practically only use it for demos and free-to-play games these days.

Linko64: Totally different, Superhot is directly tied to your movements moving time, Severed Steel is much more speed-based, closet I can really compare it to (for the sake of it) is FEAR's ideals of gunplay with Titanfall's movement. It's pretty great from the demo I tried out. Great soundtrack too

idbeholdME: Thanks for correcting me. I was basing it purely on the screenshots and trailers.
No problem, screenshots and trailers are always a little iffy for games built around the mechanics. It's a cool game that i hope does well and people give it a whirl!

I think I've fallen in love...

Breja: I don't know. It doesn't look bad, but it looks kind of... barren. More like some proof of concept/early build than a finished game. Does it have any story at least? Because there's nothing about in the trailers or in the game's description, and that does not bode well.
So I asked the dev about which direction this game will take and I got a answer.

Berzerk2k2
Will it be a Arcade fps where you just play through some levels that get harder and you just try to get through them with as much style as you can? Will it have a real single player campaign with a story and boss fights etc.? Or maybe even multiple game modes?
mattlarrabee
hey thanks for your interest. It has both a campaign and a mode called firefight where you kill with style to earn unlocks like guns and new modes. It also has a level editor mode w/ workshop support. I don't want to spoil anything but there are a number of climactic combat moments in the campaign that I hope players lose themselves in, real chaotic explosive combat.

I'm happy to answer any more questions you have!
