FTA: "Enjoy two combat modes to slay your enemies – real-time with pause or turn-based. Switch between them on the fly!"

That's the way to do it!
Nice. Some fleeting pleasure in the perpetual suffering that is the CRPG fan's life.
Zen Archer for the win!

No it's not. Pure TBS with no RTWP whatsoever is actually the way to do it.

Last time someone tried to make a "hybrid" RTWP/TBS game, that was Pillars of Eternity 2, which ended up having a heavily botched TBS mode which was unable to be implemented properly, because truly it had RTWP mechanics way too firmly embedded into its core structures.

I suspect all the same will probably be true of this new Pathfinder game.

Maybe. You might be right.

Let's hope not, though. :)
I would assume it's like the turn-based mode they added to Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which I do have (specifically because of that) but haven't played yet so I can't say how well it works. Gotta be better than RTWP though.
Cool, will buy :)

FTFY

TBS is for people who think ttrpg most important features are combat, rules, stats and dice.

In Kingmaker, the newly added turnbased mode is awesome. It is, in my opinion, way better implemented than the turnbased mode of Pillars of Eternity.
It seems to me, although i don't know the Pathfinder PnP all that well, to be close to ideal.

The great thing is, that you can enable and disable it at will, even smack in the middle of combat. That way, all the stupid trash fights against some low level crap while travelling do not take ages. Admittedly though, for that reason it can be cheesed a little but, but really not all that much.

No, you didn't fix anything, you broke it. RTWP is for people with no attention span. You might as well just play games with no combat at all if you don't want to deal with it.

I like combat in rpgs, when it's fast, like in rtwp games. Then it feels like real combat.

Not when it feels like playing chess.
That only works for single-character RPGs. Not party-based RPGs. Games like Dragon Age Origins try to compensate by having elaborate programming for companions, but if I want programming games I'll play something by Zachtronics, not a RPG.
