An old-school RPG game inspired by Wizardry 7, Might and Magic and Eye of the Beholder series – Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo is coming soon to GOG!

Mystic Land is a project that started all the way back in 1994 when couple of friends had the idea of creating a fantasy role playing game that would be a mix of the best elements from iconic computer FRP games.

Now, after more than 25 years the creators are determined to bring us the best old-school computer fantasy role playing game with all the goodies from the 90s like turn-based grid movement and combat, lots of meaningful skills and attributes, and hard puzzles to solve.

Wishlist Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo now, so you won’t miss its release or any special offer!
Best news of today, probably this week.
This looks really great, looking forward to it!
Copy pasting some posts from the devs :

Professions (classes) available in the game:
Fighter, Knight, Ninja, Samurai, Archer, Thief, Mage, Priest, Alchemist, Jester, Pikeman and Bard

Many of those are having special skills available only to them (like Pikeman that is the only profession that can use 2H spears with shields, and can use "fortify" skill in front of any party member in order to offer additional protection to that party member).

We decided on no multiclassing.
Idea is neat, but to balance it properly is a nightmare. Even in Wizardry 7, the multiclass mechanics was heavily abused.
So, no multiclass characters in Mystic Land. You will need to think hard before you start the adventure, on how you want to put the party of heroes together and how to get the best mix of classes possible.ű

Summoning spells (during the fight) are planned yes. No pets though.

The game will come with a full manual and in it, all the skills/attributes/etc... will be explained (including which skills/attributes are important for which action)
We won't reveal the exact "formulas" but we will explain all the basics.
Looks pretty good. Nice, colorful fantasy world that should be fun to explore. I'm a bit wary of the puzzles, those can be fun in moderation but too many and too hard can really make things tedious. Still, gonna keep an eye on it.

GOG.com: Coming soon: Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo
Looking good and interesting.
Maphaldo got lost?
Well, then we have to find him :)

This is the first project which got my attention since Cardhalia (and Grimrock, of course) :)
Is this something like Grimoire or is this something good? :D
Looks beautiful! ^_^

It looks like it actually has a user interface that wasn't glued together from leftovers of the 90s.
Great to see some quality gridders make it over here!
With a description that's mostly about the development history rather than the game itself and which leads with the fact that development started in 1994, I wouldn't have been surprised if the game was going to run in DOSBox... But I am surprised, very unpleasantly so, by the listed Win 10+ (or Ubuntu 22 for that matter) requirement...

Well, trying to program for DOS these days would be pretty masochistic. The dev says:

We don't know exact requirements yet (for any system), so I just put something there. ;)
Apparently a custom C/C++ engine.
