Orkhepaj: Be aware
this is not a good game
it is like someone took a mw asset flip and made the cheapest game possible
Are you playing some pirate alpha version, or are there online reviews available already?
Which reminds me I should play Mechwarrior 3 + 4 already, MW3 + expansion pack(s) have been installed on one of my older retro gaming PCs for years already, one where those nasty game engine physics bugs don't take place.
I played Mechwarrior 2 (the 3Dfx Voodoo version) + Mercenaries a long long time ago, and I loved them to bits.
Mechwarrior 1... I recall trying it once but that game seemed too archaic for me to enjoy anymore. Not sure if I made too hasty judgement, but oh well.
EDIT: The Japanese PC-98 and Sharp X68000 versions of the first MW game seem pretty good though graphically... I wonder how much they differ from the PC MS-DOS version in gameplay, and if they ran on some emulators...?

https://www.gog.com/game/shattered_steel It is a faster and simpler game than the Mechwarrior games... but still somewhat entertaining. Some of the missions are hard as nails, but IMHO in a good way. Except the last "boss battle", I just hated it, I don't even recall how I was able to win it. I have a faint recollection if I was able to "cheat" by bombing the ground under the enemy boss so he ended up into a deep pit from which it couldn't climb out, and I kept shooting at that pit... or something like that?
BUT, the game has a great soundtrack! Some of the tracks remind me of the Aliens movie music.
