I'm so glad they censored the nudity. Now I can play this game with my kids.

TheGrimLord: If you go to the devs Twitter, most people are happy with the M version, because it allows them to stream it and reach a wider audience. I've never seen so many people happy about censorship.

Orkhepaj: twitter , why would anyone use that cesspool?
Because it's the quickest way to get to the devs. They respond frequently there and I did ask if the AO patch would still be an option. By the way, I have used Twitter to communicate with various devs about whether or not their games would be coming to GOG and got replies very quickly. And yes, some did bring their games to GOG. So it is worth it for quick communication with devs.

TheGrimLord: Hey, now. There are several stories to tell in those "disgusting porn novels." You're just being biased. I agree that the game should come here unedited, but you'd be a fool to think that several of the visual novels here do not have interesting stories to tell. Perhaps not your cuppa tea, but good stories nonetheless.
Seconded. It looks like all the negative reviews comes from people who haven't played them. I wish people could be big enough to accept that gog has games that people other than themselves find entertaining.
I do have a feeling that as much as the devs are pushing this M version of the game, they may not have any intention of bringing the uncensored here. They are really pushing it as a way to "allow the game to be reached by a wider audience." This is internal censorship within the development studio in order to reach a larger audience and I'm betting the console market (David Jaffe is on the team after all) as well.

Once again, the devs intentionally censored the game in this respect, so I would not expect it to come uncensored as they're really pushing this version. It's all over the Twitter page, they're treating it like a brand new build altogether.

Unfortunately, the developers on Discord refuse to answer any questions about the GOG versions of the game, so they're not off to a good start for now.
The HDR is a little wonky in the game. Bright parts too bright then go to dark depending on where you stand .

HappyPunkPotato: I always assume these kind of games are just as terrible as the few porn films I've seen. Glad to hear it's good because it sounds like just my kind of thing and I might actually buy this edition sometime when I would probably never buy the uncensored one. Looks like I'm the only one though. So tired of sex being stuffed into every horror film, it makes a nice change to see it being taken out of a horror game. Hope there is a full version patch for everyone who's into that though.
They're like a walking simulator and hidden object game with good graphics where you are sometimes in the real world solving the story and in another one which looks like your stuck inside someones guts.

Just from the demo there are some cuts to the story that change the meaning of one scene in particular.

Starkrun: its just a demo listing anyways and not a full game..
No, this is not just a demo listing. There are two product pages for this game -- the demo (the link following "Demo:" in the announcement) and the full game (the link following "Title:" in the announcement). Both are the M Edition.

Lust from Beyond... M edition?

Brilliant.... just brilliant.

At least bring the full game as well. That would be an instabuy. The cut down version won't even make it on the wishlist.

Let's Players and Twitch streamers aren't "most people".

The question is, will the wider streaming audience translate to greater sales? Obviously the devs think it will. I think it will not. Not of the M edition, anyway.

The key is: who is this for? Censoring is for families and children. But parents won't buy a game called "Lust from Beyond" for their children to play -- censored or not. By removing the full version they're sending away the majority of their target customers to try and court a demographic that wouldn't be interested in their product regardless.

Bring both editions here and they'd be getting universal praise for their inclusivity and choice. Instead they're going to get condemned from both sides -- the families for the title and themes and the adults for the censorship.

The only ones who benefit are on Twitch.

Someone should attempt to give them a reality check, by informing them of the facts that

a) the majority of gamers are against censored garbage versions

b) Twitch streamers, and the people who will watch their streams, for a game of this kind, make up a tiny niche of their already-niche audience, the majority of their potential niche audience will be against the censored garbage version

c) contrary to what the devs are asserting, by butchering this game, they will actually be greatly limiting their audience, and hence sales, not increasing them

Having said that, I agree with your sentiment that the devs seem fixed in their ways and probably won't do the right & smart thing by uncensoring the game instead of selling the butchered version.

But even with that being so, it's still worth telling them that we aren't okay with this censorship crap, and we aren't gonna buy it.

If they want to reach a wider audience, all they need to do is make the AO version a DLC like Succubus did so that the streamers can stream the gimped version and everyone else can play the uncensored version. I don't see any indication of that happening, unfortunately.

GOG would rather sell to Coomers than open source their Galaxy client lol.
Just finished the demo. Was decent enough, the M-rated censorship really goes overboard (even nipples are apparently considered off limits in this version) and headbob was really really bad (imagine playing a bobblehead in first person). The funniest thing is: When the demo is over, there is a button for "Take me to the store page". Guess which storefront this button leads you to? Hint: It ain't gog! ;-P

Of course! They don't have the staff to write two lines of news, let alone afford to test the games they release on their own platform, sigh.
