Get ready to explore a dark game inspired by the works of Lovecraft, Giger, and Beksiński.
Genre: Action and adventure
At least the uncensored version makes it's way here at some point.

The whole thing is going to leave a sour taste though, that's for sure.

DarkBattler: There is also a page for Lust for Darkness (https://www.gog.com/game/lust_for_darkness), which is great, but there are none for Prologue and Scarlet. I really hope they are coming here as well, as they are more short games in between Darkness and Beyond, than just demos.
Indeed, +1.
Both games bought, regionlock be damned.

The two missing mini games COULD be added as free DLCs to the main game. Let's wait and see, what GOG is up to.

Marcus-Havoc: The backlash most likely did it, or else they'd release on the same date.

Just look at Mary skelter 2 for instance, backlash happens, and suddenly Ghostlight can put back the mini-game that were falsely claimed to have been removed.

rjbuffchix: Exactly the example I thought of.

And, as with that one, it is now imo worth buying this uncensored release whereas the censored release was an easy pass.
That game still is a bad port though, which is why I held off from buying it. Did they fix those issues too? Does it run better?

Edit: I checked the steam page and yeah, it does. They released several patches.

If this releases before I have the cash to aford it I plan to get it when I indeed have the cash to aford it.. But if it releases when I can afford it then it'll be a day one buy where as the M edition was a very easy pass given how much I despise censorship odds are I would have only gotten that version when dirt cheap.. Like I do with any censored game ...Where as this regular AO one I will get day one full price Again so long as I can afford it day one

mqstout: Isn't this already here? I assumed "M edition" meant mature? This is definitely a newspost that needed MORE INFO, gog staff writers.
Yes I suspect a lot of peoples would make the same mistake and think that the M version was the uncensored one. Maybe they should call the normal version "unrated" instead.

Thanks!

idbeholdME: Wonder if has been planned all along or is the result of the (justified) backlash about offering only a censored version.

Anyway, geat news for anyone interested.

They did readd the mini game ? Good to know thanks!
At some point I'll look at it again I guess, right now too much other stuff though.

Marcus-Havoc: This shows how effective voting with your wallet is. sadly, there are still too many NPC that will blindly buy or excuse such practices.

I just see it as saving money if they won't release the version I'm interested in. But for anime titles I'm very picky seeing as I also don't like the Westernization aspect.
Eh, I'm not so sure of that. Couldn't it instead be framed to say it shows how effective complaining enough is? In other words, perhaps the motivation to bring it here was more based around outrage, than around monetary numbers. I don't think we can really tell, one way or the other. As for the latter part, that's fair; I remember seeing you get into back-and-forths with a translator here, lol. I personally don't mind more loose translation but your perspective is valid as well.

I'm okay with the short descriptions in general but this is one instance where we really could have used more info ("The censored version is the "M Edition", this is the uncensored original game")

Since a lot of people wanted this apparently, I'm glad its coming for them. Thanks!

Complaints could equal the amount of people that will refuse to buy a game that is censored. From what I have seen with the Mary skelter 2 release on STEAM, the amount of people playing it suddenly skyrocketed after The release of the patch.

What I find weird in general, is that the smaller devs seem to get the hint of bad press and general vocal complaints and mostly adept to counter it by listening, while bigger devs seem to want to "Go Woke Go Broke" seeing as battlefield series and most mainstream games are slowly going down the drain.

Not sure that I want to buy this now, since the devs first only offered the butchered garbage version to GOG, whilst deliberately labeling it with the extremely misleading label of "M Edition" to give consumers the false impression that it was the real original unbutchered version (i.e. the version that is announced in the OP of this thread).

And I especially don't want to buy it since GOG censored (by way of deletion) my review of the censored garbage version, which GOG apparently deleted simply for me pointing out the same facts which I've just stated, and/or since my factual review was dissuading many consumers (and rightfully so) from buying it.

Had none of those shady shenanigans from the devs and from GOG occurred, and had they instead just released the original unbutchered game on GOG, and make sure it has feature parity with the Steam version, then I definitely would have bought it on GOG.

Speaking of feature parity: the Steam version has Achievements. Is the GOG version also going to have Achievements?

Or will they be treating GOG customers like second-class citizens by not giving GOG customers feature parity?
yay, this must be the original unrated version, thats cool, i will buy it now =)
I'd feel sorry for anyone who bought the M Edition right now, if I wasn't baffled by anyone who willingly bought a gimped product in the first place.
We did it! Thanks GOG and Movie Games for bringing this (and from what I understand, the rest in the series) here! Really appreciated.

Now everyone can rejoice and enjoy their preferred level of fucked up Lovecraftian & Gigeresque horror. :D
