Will it be censored?

The game will be fully uncensored (with an option to censor if you wish) on all stores with the exception of GOG. I still encourage players to purchase from GOG if that’s where they like to play games, because the censored version can be uncensored pretty easily with an external patch (explained below).

How can I uncensor a censored version of the game?

All you have to do is download the external uncensor patch file below and place it in the same location/directory on your computer where the game executable file is. Then, the next time you start the game, it will automatically recognize and apply the patch.

Uncensor Patch (copy this link and paste it in your browser’s address bar):
https://www.huniepop.com/patch/HP2SteamyPatch.dat

On GOG, you can find where the game executable file is located by going to the game’s page from within the GOG Galaxy client, clicking the options button at the top, expanding “Manage installation” and then clicking “Show folder”. On Windows it will be called “HuniePop 2 - Double Date.exe” and on Mac it will be called “HuniePop 2 - Double Date.app”.
Finally a clear statement. Thank you ... now I will buy it :)

ReynardFox: Did you click the link in my message? It's not being censored on any platform except GOG, Steam is getting it uncensored. That's not the way it's been before now.
avatar
Gersen: MangaGamer, Nutaku, Fakku, Jast USA nearly always release stuff uncensored, Humble is selling a Steam key. Steam started releasing stuff uncensored some time ago, but with very volatile rules for Anime-looking stuff, often re-censoring or even removing games on a whim. And Gog never released adult games uncensored (except some Larry one but they are pretty tame).

So yes, it's exactly the way it's been before now.
There are a few adult games here that are uncensored. They include Lula the Sexy Empire and a German hospital game that I can't remember the name of.

[EDIT] Biing! is the name of the hospital game. Gog offers the uncensored version as a separate download - German language only though.

Oh my, if even those extremely harmless games are now considered to be adult games ... unbelievable.
I know it's not an issue to uncensor it, but it's still kinda ridiculous that GOG is the only place that still requires devs to censor their games. If Steam doesn't do that anymore, surely GOG can stop censoring as well, right?
You know what the ridiculous thing is?
On Steam, the uncensoring DLCs are shown as "Hidden because of your preferences". Bullshit, i have unhidden that stuff as soon as the option appeared, and those settings are still set to enable mature content.
So, it's for sure not "my preference" to have them hidden, but Steam, for some reason, just is not honest about the reason.

Sure, as soon as GOG introduces an adult filter like Steam.

I wonder how you are even able to access the store page since they blocked HP2 completely for Germans.

ReynardFox: Censored only on GOG!

This place continues to find new ways to make itself look like a pack of pathetic cowards.
You beat me to posting this link by mere day.
But I'm still going to quote-drag-into-reading some people that asked before for PSA sake below ;)

avatar
Sabin_Stargem: "Please note that this is a censored version of the game."

...No buy. The Steam edition is to be uncensored by default, with the option to censor.
avatar
NuffCatnip: I highly doubt that, the first one was released censored.
The second title seems to be more explicit.
I mean, there is this:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/HuniePop#Remove_censorship

avatar
odisos: "Please note that this is a censored version of the game" no purchase on GOG for me then.
avatar
MarkoH01: Okay, I guess I'll have to ask the devs if the game can be uncensored as easily as the first one then before buying.
avatar
wolfsite: conflicting information
avatar
DreamedArtist: a drop file to make the game uncensored
avatar
Inverse0: Anyone know if the GOG version will be uncensored?
I can't find any official information about it.

avatar
Darvond: For those complaining about the censoring, you do realize that in Huniepop 1 it was simple as making a named dummy file, right?

Or are ya'll the dummy file here?
You do realize other platforms will get "censor switch" by default? Only GOG will not?
It's about treating customers equally across platforms.
For some reason it's not a thing on GOG.

avatar
Niggles: Sigh.
"trap" . Just choose female or male. Dont try to get trendy and go all transgender. Simple is best. Why cant people just do what has always been the case?. (bloody Warframe chat actually bans you for using the word "trap" in reference to gender of warframe Nezha)...
Afaik Warframe has some ridiculous auto-ban rules so it's an example in no way representing this industry's behaviours.

avatar
yogsloth: Am I a terrible person because I'm looking forward to this?

and btw, the first game is available on GOG in only a censored version as well

until you add that single-line text file to the root directory
The difference is that in H1 it's like that on every platform whereas in H2 it's like that only in GOG version.

avatar
yogsloth: Am I a terrible person because I'm looking forward to this?
avatar
WinterSnowfall: I think a lot of people on this thread can at least tell you you're not the only terrible person, even if that were the case :P.
Hey, don't look at me, I'm just responding to common misconceptions here :P (laughably ironicly I have nothing better to do atm)

avatar
Grargar: If I remember correctly, "Mature Content" is off by default and you'll need to enable it yourself.
avatar
MarkoH01: Ah, did not even know about this. All checkboxes of type of games to be shown were already ticked ... but at least I was now finally able to disable those stupid warnings :)
Just be careful on discovery queues, it will start shoving explicit content in them (ergo be careful WHERE you watch your discovery queues).

avatar
MarkoH01: do they even know what a porno is?
I'm not going to casually joke about "h is art" just now /s :P

avatar
Gersen: Steam started releasing stuff uncensored some time ago, but with very volatile rules for Anime-looking stuff, often re-censoring or even removing games on a whim.
Meanwhile there is literal IRL porn on some background/card pages in some obscure shittily-made games.

Funny you should ask that question in the light of GOG refusing to release a certain game internationally just because IN THE PAST it contained some content that offended some small amount of people from ONE country.

avatar
Gersen: Jast USA nearly always release stuff uncensored,
I'm sorry for small off-top but I have 2 questions in regards to Jast USA digital store. If you happen to know then please answer those:
1.Do you get one-time download or can you download any number of times
2.Do they give you file checksums for what you download (I'm actually asking because I wanted to buy Steins;Gate but my global net connection is notoriously garbage)

Ah, in this case i was not talking about Hunie Pop, to be honest i was not aware that it was completly blocked. I only have one game fitting those ctaegories anyway, and that is Max Gentlemen sexy Business. The store page is available (maybe because i own it?), but the uncesnor DLC is hidden. I can see that something is there, but it is "Excluded based on my preferences"

The Sabateur is another game with mature content, it does have a toggle switch in the options menu but it is set to not censor by default.

Wohey - let's derail an coming soon tread (and I am suprised no one has made anything out of a coming soon thread with this game....)

I have seen this, and I have seen people acting surprised, so let's just try to contextualise this (and we will ignore the assumption - you do not know how many people were offended, small or large amount). In relation to market value, you can not say that countries have a 1:1 market value, and that's what it important if you want to make monies.

The reason who so many buisness do not want to rock the boat wiht China -
The Chinese population is currently 1.5 Billion. Compare this with for example USA, which has a population of 332 Million. The potential market size of China vs USA alone is potentially 4:1. ( and more context - USA is the third largest contry based on population of this world)
Or another context, the total population of the earth is 7.7 Billion. This means that the Chinese make up 18.5% of the worlds population. That is a huge slize. (again, compare with USA which is 4.3%)

(edit - the source for this, as I am lazy, is https://www.worldometers.info/. Though it should be accurate as they use the numbers from UN. It is an interesting website anyway.)

No. You let yourself do that. I am not a part of it.
I merely made a subtle reference without going into ANY details UNLIKE YOU.
So, really, YOU make an attempt at derailing here.

For the sake of shutting up this derail I will tightly respond here just for the sake of those uninformed who would read your post and come to wrong conclusions based on that becasue of not having made own research and thus not knowing any better.
But this post is all I'm willing to talk about it. There is a separate thread about it and no amount of dragging me into this (by you or anyone else) will make me restructure THIS thread into another copycat thread about the same thing.

avatar
amok: you can not say that countries have a 1:1 market value, and that's what it important if you want to make monies
I don't know any, even just one, case of some countries' markets being basically exact same value.
But you can't imply a China-market-worth == entire-elsewhere-market-worth because it's nowhere near that, not even close.

avatar
amok: The Chinese population is currently 1.5 Billion. Compare this with for example USA, which has a population of 332 Million
I think this is completely irrelevant as it was already brought up SEVERAL TIMES in few other dedicated threads that what GOG does here while stepping on thin ice is risking loosing most of it's international market customers for the sake of ONE country.
I will not go into details as you have read that and other interested people can go read that too in the related thread.
GOG doesn't operate in just one country, it does so internationally, you cannot compare population of one country with another.
Especially since you don't actually have data on how much of those 1.5 B would even buy games in GOG store. Even just cut elderly and some "technologically restricted" (for various reasons) people and you will get much lower cut.
On top of that if GOG would want to bring up entire store there with all current catalouge they would be unable to sell most of this stuff due to Chinese censorships rules and they would have to geoblock specific titles in China. Which would result in 2 things:
1.GOG mostly selling just few let-through games and thus not exactly having as much income from there as you imply
2.GOG being proven complete hypocrites by abiding to forced-by-Chinese-GOV geoblocking JUST-IN-CHINA of MANY games while previously blocking a game INTERNATIONALLY based on unverified-CUSTOMERS biased requests.

avatar
amok: population of the earth is 7.7 Billion. This means that the Chinese make up 18.5% of the worlds population. That is a huge sliCe.
You know what is a huge slice? 81.5 %. This is how much GOG is risking loosing ACCESS TO if they take one step to many.
If GOG steps too far, which they are dangerously close to doing, they will be subject to Polish, EU and international laws regarding doing close business with China and would therefore get banhammered by EU and some other places and would get severly limited in doing business OUTSIDE-of-China.
If GOG so desperately wants to otherthrow estabilished steady income userbase for ONE market that MAYBE could be profitable while unstable then if they step too far they will end up there and nowhere else.

I merely made one sneaky remark that GOG actually doesn't care about lack of censorship.
I DELIBERATELY did not use related game's name. It is not in my intention to derail this thread.
But you don't seem to be bothered by derailing it yourself. Well, in any case, I am not going to be a part of it.
Do as you please.
But I don't intend to talk about THE game HERE.

If you want to argue that international block of an indie game with already-removed-"offending-content" instead of geoblocking it in 1 country and all that because of unproven influx of complaints allegedly processed suspiciously fast (in just few hours) while there is even a sticky post from blue about substantial support ticket delays and all that is in your opinion justified because "China is a large market and circa approaching 1/5 of world population" then go ahead and argue about it in one of few threads dedicated to it.
I will not do that here.

My small one sentence remark was just fyi to everybody that GOG really does not care about NOT censoring content.

What didn't you understand? On Steam HP2 is not accessible from Germany - well, at least not without VPN.

I think he was simply shocked that a game wasn't geolocked because of it's detail of violence but another reason. :)
