A ver good game that shows the love of its developers.
I'll miss the roguelite features of its predecessor but a handcrafted universe and a better story will also be appreciated.
I really enjoyed the first's gameplay, but I wasn't all that wild about the whole rogue-lite loop, so after I finally managed a successful run I kind of called it quits on that one. Having that gameplay mixed with a properly structured game world is music to my ears. I'll be holding off until full release though.

I won't. A well-designed game world will always trump the random (and often repetitive) nature of a rogue-lite design.

Same here. Except I bought into the hype and backed it on kickstarter... but it looks promising so far.
Yes!
Finally a game that could live up to Freelancer's legacy.
I enjoyed Everspace 1 as it was, but this will probably be even better.
Instantly wishlisted.
Too bad the first game didn't support joystick on linux, and this one seems to drop all support entirely.

Perhaps they tried and got into KB&M problems?
I - unexpectedly - greatly enjoyed the first game. Was ready to give up on it after dying without much progress the first dozen times, but luckily stuck with it for one more game and then finally started to get somewhere, and really liked the way I managed to get further and further in subsequent runs. I thought the way the story developed over subsequent runs was really well done.

I really hope Linux support will be added still to this new version, as I'd love to see where the developers have taken it.
Definitely gonna buy on a release day.

And I am glad that my graphics card should be good enough for this game :)

I played EVERSPACE with the joystick on Linux.
Did you have any problems ?
Another one comes off the Steam wishlist...

Last time I tried it, the game didn't support joystick input (which is a big downside for me in any flying game). Also see the developer's reply in this thread:

However, if the issue was fixed meanwhile, it is great!
Played the demo thing on Steam... feels the same but also differnt and better... this is not a rogue-like though. Its the flight of Everspace in open space and they did a phenomenal job translating it into the format.

Day 1 purchase, no question!
Instabuy day 1. I never kickstarted a videogame, and I regret I didn't have this one as a first.
