It’s time for another great classic from SNEG – Captain Blood is coming soon on GOG, and you can try out the DEMO now!

It’s a pirate-themed action game where you play as a fearsome pirate seeking gold and glory. Expect adventures with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans. This hack'n'slash features fierce combat, hordes of enemies and flashy combos.

Wishlist it now, and join our stream today at 8 PM UTC on https://www.twitch.tv/gogcom, where we’ll be joined by SNEG to play the demo and discuss video game preservation!
Very nice. There's just not enough pirate games.

Risen 2 Looking Very Nice. I would Play But Did Not Finish Part 1 Yet. Part 1 Is Also Nice.
Excited to try the demo.
Played the demo and uninstalled after 10 minutes. WASD hard-coded and no way to change the keybindings. Yeah, screw all the lefties....

But how do they say? "A penny saved is a penny earned" :)

You're supposed to have a hook for a left hand.
God of War but pirates? Yeah this looks like one for me. Hope it's good.

XYCat: ok but 1988 Captain Blood when? :D
I was excited when I saw the Captain Blood announcement, thinking the old C64/Amiga game was getting a port since the announcement referred to a 'classic'.

I was greatly confused when I saw this game instead, with nary a spaceship in sight.
I just tried out the demo and I'll be getting this game as soon as it's out. It plays a little like warhammer space marines

Oh I definitely like the sound of that. Sure hope Space Marine 2 shows up here one day too.
Oh, I remember this story. This is a completely crazy story. The guys from Akella (game developer and publisher in Russia) who have created some good and iconic games such as "Sea Dogs" and "Pirates of the Caribbean".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Pirates:_Captain_Blood

The guys spent 7 years creating a new game that passed from one company to another, restarted from scratch several times and changed names. Nevertheless, all this time the game received positive reviews and even some awards at gaming exhibitions.

In 2010, the game was fully ready and handed over to the publisher. But it was not released! No one then understood what the f*ck was going on. It's hard to even imagine what it was like for the developers to realize that 7 years of your development ended in NOTHING.

Some investigations said that there were some shady guys who claimed their rights to this game... But this is a vague story, I didn't go into detail about what really happened there.

And when no one expected to hear anything about this game - suddenly, in 2021, a video from this game appears on the network, and even a whole playable build. I remember being surprised at the time that thanks to the visual style of the game, it looked quite good, even in 2021.

Even more surprising is that the game will still be released. To be honest, I'm shocked. I don't know who owns this game now, but apparently the graphics have been improved compared to the old build. I may be wrong, but visually it looks better than in the old builds.

I would like to know who is working on the game today, what improvements have been made, and what plans the developers have for further support of the game.

Just played the demo for a few hours - it looks cool, perky and fun. I love games in a pirate setting. The main character is brutal and slaps right and left, like good old Kratos. The game really resembles God of War in a pirate setting. The character controls are quite convenient, and in general I liked the gameplay. I will buy this game at release, but I would like to hear something from the developers themselves. Are there any further plans to support the game? Expanding the game world? Add-ons? Sequels? In any case, it was a story that lasted 21 years... It's unbelievable! :)

I have to say, the demo is really good. RIght now there are only some thing, you can change in setting (like graphics resolution) and not more.

But I do hope, that the final version there will be more things.

Ironically it may have better chance to be noticed today than back then. I can see it flopping heavily in 2010 with a lot of competition from other console-ish actioners and hack'n'slashers.

This Be Why You Have Configuration Files Like Ini. Tweak Settings There And All Will Be Good.
