Caladrius Blaze, a masterclass in shoot-em-up, is coming soon to GOG.com!

Formerly a console-exclusive, the quintessential corridor shoot-em-up comes to PC – where classic gameplay meets modern design, then clashes in a spectacle of flash, flesh, and destruction.

At it's core Caladrius Blaze is a SHMUP's SHMUP. But high production values and a few twists splash a fresh coat of paint and excitement on a familiar formula. Aside from standard attacks and upgrades, you'll need to master unique elemental weapons to both combo for the highest of high scores, and at times, to actually make it through the levels.

Caladrius Blaze isn't extremely long – but that's no bad thing either, because there's not a dull moment in sight. It never has to pull its punches either – and whether you're new or a veteran, there's bound to be a difficulty level to match what you've got.
Approach with care, the game does tend to get NSFW at times.

Flow like chaos and flashy destruction in Caladrius Blaze, coming soon GOG.com.

dtgreene: One other thing I am wondering, regarding the scoring:

When going for a high score:
1. Is it best to avoid using bombs, or can you improve your score by using a bomb at the right time?
2. Is it best to avoid dying entirely, or can an intentional death at the right time help you get a high score (for example, by giving you more bombs to use)?

Draek: Depends on the SHMUP and I haven't played this one yet, but in most modern SHMUPs you can only improve your score by using a bomb to avoid what would've otherwise been certain death... or a complete miss, perhaps (ie, the act of letting an enemy dissapear at the bottom of the screen), though usually the bomb still screws up your future score-making potential. So, killing with your regular weapon is always preferable, specially if you use just the right amount of bullets needed to kill 'em instead of, y'know, holding it down the entire level.

In older games it was different since they often gave large bonuses for killing entire groups, thereby penalizing misses far more harshly (like, killing 9 out of 10 enemies: 900 points; killing 10 out of 10: 5000 points and a powerup), though since they also gave loads of points for unused bombs at the end of the level, it was still kind of a losing proposition unless you really needed that powerup.

But do take this with a grain of salt, as I haven't played a SHMUP for score in almost a decade, and many others now give points in the order of millions per enemy, making it far more difficult to tell at a glance without reading the (oft japanese) manual.
Actually, some SHMUPs have mechanics that favor strategic use of bombing to get high scores. For example, in the Touhou series:

In Touhou 11, grazing bullets (getting close to bullets without actually getting hit) increases the value of point items. If you bomb, you become temporarily invincible, and during that time you can safely graze bullets in patterns that would otherwise be certain death.

In Touhou 14, using bombs to cancel bullets increases the point item value (and I believe grazing does as well). An extreme case happens if you are playing as MarisaB, whose bombs will turn enemy bullets into power up items. It turns out that, if you collect enough point/power items in a short enough time, you get bonus points, and you can even get a heart (worth 1/3 of an extra life). This means that you can get extra lives by using MarisaB's bombs, and since dying resets your bomb count, you can basically end up with a net gain in resources by bombing at the right time. Now you just need to make sure that you end the game with the maximum number of lives (and this life-farming method doesn't work during spell cards).

A few SHMUPs have bomb like mechanics that also give you scoring bonuses. There's the Vaunt mechanic in Jamestown, and Crimzon Clover also has a similar mechanic that acts like a bomb but puts you into a mode where you are more powerful and get more points.

(I could, of course, mention that one Touhou game (8?) where MarisaB's unfocused shots are extremely powerful between 3 and 4 power (due to the programmer putting the decimal point in the wrong place. Oops!), and where bombing costs 1 power (and otherwise doesn't have a limit). In that game with that character, if your power goes above 4, using a bomb can be a way to decrease your power so your shots do more damage.)
Wishlisted for now.
Wishlisted. I wonder how censored this version actually is, compared to the arcade, which was pretty fanservice-y.

Perhaps not as much, considering the warning on the Relese post. Besides, even if it is, I'm sure there's a patch out there...

Nah, I don't care about patching it, it's not like I absolutely need to see some digital panties, it's just that I don't like to support censored products on a matter of principle, therefore I probably won't buy if it's censored.
