Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a 2013’s epic fairy tale journey hailed by critics when it was originally released, and created by an award-winning game director, Josef Fares, and talented developer, Starbreeze Studios.

Now, this beautiful tale filled with discovery, loss, adventure, and mystery is back and coming soon to GOG in the form of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake!

With their father suffering from a deadly illness, you’ll once again guide two brothers, who must bravely set out to find the “Water of Life,” the one cure that can save him. With no option for failure the brothers must rely on each other using their individual skills to protect one another and overcome the obstacles ahead in this unforgettable journey.

The Remake remains faithful to the gameplay and touching story from 2013, while featuring rebuilt characters and landscapes based on the original. It has been updated to the latest generation of graphics, performance, and gameplay. Paired with a re-recorded soundtrack with a live orchestra, prepare for an emotional experience that will take your adventure to all new heights.

Expect to solve puzzles, discover hidden stories, traverse dangerous locations, and fight deadly bosses. In single-player mode, navigate this story as both brothers in tandem or play in local co-op with a friend, each controlling one of the brothers as you play together.

Wishlist the game now and be prepared to immerse yourself in the emotion world full of hidden details that reward those who seek them out.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake – soon on GOG!

Sternitzky: The remake I expect, and I know I want, is The Witcher 1. And this Tale of CD Projekt Red is older than That Game of Two Sons.

Best edible as an integration in Part 3. Together with Part 2.

UCrest: A good example of a game that for reasons of time has not aged as well as other titles of the time. I'm also looking forward to The Witcher remake.
Yeah, I want The Witcher Legendary Edition. And I want it now! And I do hope, that this pinnacle of a joyride hasn't any lost source code like Mass Effect®™.

Yes, it's a pity about Mass Effect. I loved both the first and the second installment of the series. Hopefully CD Projekt Red will soon surprise us with a Legendary Edition or even a version of the first The Witcher on par with the third game in the trilogy =)

Longcat: The remake has local coop, whereas the original game was only single player (even though you could remap keys to two controllers, it was far from optimal). This alone justifies a remake. All their other games are made for two player coop.
I have to disagree. Imo the fact that you control both brothers at the same time is absolutely crucial to the experience and to the message the game wants to convey.

Edit: WinterSnowfall was faster ... sorry.

No need to be sorry. I'm happy to see I wasn't the only one that was left with this distinct impression :).

Feel free to disagree :) Obviously, there are people who want coop, and people who want single player. And now we get both. Personally, I had a great time playing it both ways, didn’t feel it ruined the story or the message, and I fail to see how the option to play in coop takes away from the experience of those who want to play single player. The director (Fares) of the game obviously thinks adding coop is fine, and I know several people who agree.

It’s like with most other remakes, imo. If you don’t want to play it, don’t buy it. It’s not like the original is going to disappear.

It's not so much about the option to play co op it is more about the message and it surprises me how anybody could say that this does not change the message of the game drastically. Saying more would mean spoilers so I guess we have to leave it as this.

Does they think so? Did they say sth. like this is an interview? Maybe they just think that making additional money would be fine but for me the decision to make co op possible feels as if they compromised their own artistic value.

I don't want the remake to disappear I simply say that playing this in co op would be like watching Memento n chronological order ....

I think anyone familiar with Fares and his work, both as a movie and game director, would be hard pressed to suggest he is a person that would compromise his artistic integrity for money.

Will the remake have GOG achievements this time?
avatar
robaato.san: Yes, but that is neither a sequel, nor "some sort" of a sequel. ;)
avatar
Breja: Tell that to Quake 2.
Quake 2 is neither a sequel, nor "some sort" of a sequel to Quake 1.

FFS: there really exists a subset of GOG users who HAVE TO go against EVERYTHING someone else writes...
Their main thing is "to be against it", no matter what, no matter why.
not all the time, only when people write something silly or wrong

Ah, ok. The "2" confused me. And the "Quake".

Anyway, that sort of not at all sequel in any way except for the gameplay, name and developers is what I had in mind.

The only related Quakes are 2 and 4. Otherwise quake games are completely unrelated, sharing the same name for no good reason.

Not unlike Prey 2006 and Prey 2017. Sometimes game directors need to be brave enough to just say "No" to their marketing teams.
I'm all for remakes. but...

... did this need one?

I thought the graphics and art direction already had a timeless quality.

My first thoughts. And also: It feels like I bought the original game here yesterday, never played it and now there's already a remake coming. It's weird :D

Atreyu666: never played it
That's a mistake. ;-)
