Crimson rivers.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an atmospheric action/RPG waring its anime sensibilities on its frilly sleeve, is coming soon DRM-free to GOG.com.
Despite being slowly consumed by a curse that will crystallize her entire body, Miriam still has a lot of fight left in her. Hacking, slashing, and dodging the feisty demon hordes now under the command of a corrupted old friend, she carves a path through this castle of gothic horrors with overwhelming gusto.

Beta access keys will be distributed to the Kickstarter backers in the upcoming days.

Gersen: And when this version was cancelled you exchange it for a copy on the Vita :P
I nearly did to be honest, but ended up picking the Switch version instead!

Coming Soon
Gee, am I getting a case of déjà vu here?

Ah, that's correct:

Bonus points for having the exact same thread title. Well done, GOG. Hopefully, both threads (past self and present self) can coexist in harmony in the present time without any catastrophic time paradox occuring.

As for the game, hopefully it won't be delayed yet again to 2020.

Hate to say it but this is hardly "coming soon" at this rate, given the push back to 2019.

Anyhow, does this mean I can access the beta (and any future pre-release material) here now? Originally I only saw the option for get beta access through Steam though I claimed the game here on GOG for when it releases.
I still don't like the art style.
Well, I hope at least THIS spiritual successor gets things right, I surely have been burned by a few of them on crowdfunding campaigns.

Just a nitpick, but it's bugging me: it's 'wearing', not 'waring'.

And I kickstarted this to get a copy for Linux. Something GOG doesn't seem to offer! :)

I love GOG for its quality of service! It is something GOG should be really proud of! :)

P.S. My condolences for PS Vita folks, Sony really dropped a ball with this abandonment. :(

I remembered the original announcement thread, but didn't realize it's been that long. Makes me wonder even more so, why they bothered to make another announcement now, when there's no official release date, and no option to pre-order it here. I guess it's because of the beta version?
It looks really bland, both the art style and the gameplay. It really lack the "crunchyness" of Symphony of the Night or the DS games.

Yeah, as much as I love IGA's Castlevania games, the whole debacle with backers not getting a DRM-free version of the 8-bit prequel has really soured things for me.

A fellow Wii U owner! What a small world, there are only about 17 of us after all.

Yeah... there were a lot of Kickstarter games that were meant to release on the Wii U. :P

That they did, though the crew managing the project dropped the ball somewhat as well. They mentioned that western cartridge discontinuation wouldn't affect them immediately after Sony's statements, then backpedaled two months later (into outright canceling the whole game), which certainly didn't look good. I was looking forward to my physical copy being there at one time but at least the Switch serves the same general purpose (and UE4 natively runs on that so no engine converting required.)
