Frostyfirefly: I wonder how this will turn out, I find it interesting that a female protagonist was chosen, as I cannot think of a single Aztec female hero in our history. Now about the science fantasy look to it, I think that looks pretty decent. Overall, I am most interested in the plot and how the different Aztec gods are represented, especially when it comes to displaying their monstruous aspects; hopefully, the gameplay won't disappoint either.
dtgreene: Well, doing a duckduckgo search, here's what I come up with:
https://www.ancient-origins.net/history-famous-people/controversial-role-la-malinche-fall-aztec-empire-traitor-or-hero-005284 La Malinche, who apparently served the Spanish invaders, and is therefore a controversial figure.

Itzpapalotl, who is apparently a warrior-goddess. Given the game description, perhaps you'll have to fight her, or at least some being that's like her?
So, yes, examples do exist in Aztec history and mythology. (Or, at least one exists in each, though I think I saw another mythological example in the search results.)
The Malinche is no hero, that's where the expression "hijo de p a" (censored to keep the forums clean) comes from, she also didn't know how to fight like an Aztec warrior. Also, goddesses do not count as heroes, I was talking about human heroes.
So no, no examples exist, take it from a Mexican.
