Reglisse: [..] The only thing I loved here was the DRM free way of life...this DRM Free thing is dead since more or less mandatory Galaxy ... [..]

Dillerkind: I've read comments like this several times before and have always been wondering: How is Galaxy mandatory? I'm playing on a machine that's not even connected to the internet and use Galaxy only to download the offline installers. Never had any issues. Sure, I guess it's necessary for multiplayer in certain games and .. I don't know.. achievement tracking? But that aside, what else do you need it for? Btw that's an honest question.. not trying to mock you in any way.
It's largely imaginary. It sometimes happens that the offline installers can get delayed (which admittedly sucks when it's something you were really looking forward to). There might be some games were something more interesting happens but it never was anything I really cared about and the complainers always manage to be so very vague while also full of pathos. In the cases where I was willing to take a closer look it usually ended up in some multiplayer-like issue and thus deep in "I don't give a damn"-land for me.

If you want a laugh and some idea about what you are up against, take for example a look at the Factorio reviews here. A bunch of people who had either absolutely no clue or were actively malignant made a big issue about absolutely nothing. If you registered your CD key with an account you could get high frequency updates directly from their auto updater (sometimes twice daily in hot times), or you could just wait for normal GOG updates every couple of weeks or when something really important was patched. So pretty much a better patch support than many other games get. With an option for even higher frequency.

tfishell: Deck13 / Focus Entertainment? Nice.

NuffCatnip: DRM-free version of Atlas Fallen will be available in September 2023

... at least they're upfront about it and don't let us guess. ...

tfishell: Yes.
Cant wait!
I was able to wait 2 years for Cyberpunk; then i finally got a nice and fully updated version able to run smooth and properly, without DRM: Totally win for me!

Same counts for way to many games. Faster means aswell faster on bugs and patching... good luck on that.

I got Wo Long Fallen Dynasty on day 1 on PS5 and then i got informed on day one "You can go buy your Seasonpass" for future content. Instantly i was shutting down my console and had in mind "why the heck did i buy this game day 1... for the steel case only"? Okay, sounds fair, but i will play it half year later... until all the content is released. Reason: I have so much more other games to play... i have no issue waiting for the best version.

Games are rarely finish on day 1, this is just a fairy tale so there is hype, huge prices and you can go buy the missing content half year later...:D

I think, Deck 13 had in mind it will be better to wait a few months until a crack would be available everywhere. At that point there is no issue releasing a DRM free version. Fair enough because some Publisher, no matter for how many years their game is cracked already... still are never releasing it on GoG. Patience is valuable and respectful manners will be going a long way for everyone else!

Looks pre-order-worthy.

Even truer with Team Ninja games. They're never well-balanced on release, and by the time they complete it, you'll be able to know if they ever actually balanced it, or if it's like Stranger of Paradise (or Nioh 1) where it's pretty clear that the "season pass" is badly done and best avoided (vs Nioh 2 where it's best to get the collected edition). And if you wait, at least you'll get the balance patches and bug fixes to have a much better time when you do play it.

I bought Edge of Eternity on release here... and am still waiting for them to finish it so I can play it! I was 5 hours in and loving it before I learned they had a giant roadmap (including major changes in the start of the game!)

Yeah, Edge of Eternity got a very long update history and many changes involved. Actually i got it on GoG day 1, however... still waiting to play this game, except some "test runs": Because this game simply is not fully finished yet, i assume. In the beginning it truly was "very raw" but now they was able to make some proper polish, so... soon it will be ready.

Anyway... it simply means: Good stuff may require some patience, it may be worth it.

Of course, sometimes it seems valuable buying "in dev versions" or totally raw games too... because of valuable support to the devs. However, i do not always expect the game to be "ready to play", this is fine for me, as long as the development keeps continuing. A "in dev game" is more honest than a "apparently finished game full of bugs and lack of content". This was actually the main issue of Cyberpunk in the beginning, not the quality of the game itself. Glad they was able to sort it out... but it took many years.

DoomSooth: I hope we have the option to play a male character. If so, I will buy this.
From what few glimpses of gameplay we have here, it looks like you'll be playing both of them.
It looks a bit like Haven Mixed with Forspoken. So you may be able to freely switch characters and I would not be surprised if the other one becomes a bot.
Anything published by Focus is a real hit-and-miss unfortunately. Games look pretty under them but most of the time the gameplay and replay value is really slack.
Anyone get Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn vibes (fight oppressive gods and desert setting) with Monster Hunter thrown in?
Evil west
Mudrunner
Snowrunner
please gog team?!
Man, I'd really prefer The Surge 3 to this.
If it's fallen, just pick it up and put it back on the shelf next to the dictionary.

But grandma's fallen, and she can't get up!
mmm I will wait for reviews but it picked my interest

That's pretty much the impression I've gotten so far. And I'm pretty much in the same boat as you: don't care about multiplayer (apart from couch coop in certain games :D). Guess I'll have to wait and see if somebody can eventually put a finger on a really substantial issue. Anyway, thanks for the reply!
