Waganari: I just wish there were more Racing games coming to GOG too.
Me too :)

Waganari: I'd seriously love to see... and Blur from 2010 by Activision here on GOG!
The problem with Blur is, that it got licensed cars and the license already expired. That is why the game was removed from Steam.

However, we could games like Burnout Paradise (Remastered), Split/Second: Velocity or Ridge Racer Unbounded from that generation. If they can remove these Games for Windows and Steam functions. And maybe fix the multiplayer or at least add a LAN option.

Anyway, I am waiting for the full release of art of rally.
It would be interesting, if art of rally would also have rallycross events :D
I agree with the posts asking for more racing games in GOG! ;-) I still would love to get the Need for Speed Underground series here on GOG.

not possible because the license for music and cars have probably expired.... but there is a rumor that ea might remaster an underground game.
Just finished evaluating the game. As expected, this isn't the next Richard Burns Rally and that's fine. It's a very good arcade racing game that features some nice physics which, as a hardcore simracer, i found them to be engaging enough and the cars a pleasure to drive.

It's definitely the kind of arcade racing game that would easily serve as a nice "distraction" from my usual GPL, NR2003, GTR2, P&G3, GP4 & RBR racing action. If only the camera helped...

The top-down camera didn't quite worked for me, and the fact that it doesn't feature any other views, created two significant problems for me:

• most of the time i found it difficult to judge the various elevation changes / jumps that require more precise throttle control
• i found it hard to aim for the apex in nearly every turn, since i'm not used in anything that's not an onboard cam

As it is now, i find it difficult to spend my money on it, even if i dig nearly everything it offers (graphics, sound, choice of cars from the golden age of rallying, replay system, career mode etc). The top-down camera is unfortunately a dealbreaker, since it robs all the fun for me.

Hoping that the dev may read this post, i hope there will be an official update (or a mod) at some point, that will enable an onboard (or even better a freely customizable) camera. Then i'll gladly purchase it. Until then, it will sit on my wishlist.

Vythonaut: Frankly, if you're into simracing, it's the only NASCAR sim i recommend. The rest of the series (after EA purchased the franchise) were a disaster when it comes to racing simulation. The only good alternative to NR2003 (but not specifically since it offers much more than NASCAR cars and tracks) is iRacing, but it's geared towards multiplayer and has a subscription model, so it may not be your thing.
Thanks for the tip, I'm quite don't like the "always turn left" thing but may give it a try...

I would be glad with only a behind the car perspective since the onboard may be quite difficult to implement (Grid Autosport had all kind of trouble in it).
Since there isn't any next turn indications, like co-pilot or in-screen signs, maybe aerial but more behind the car camera, would let antecipate stuff better. People who competes for the leaderboard will do the same track again and again, so it wont matter to them, but will matter for more casual players.

Neither did I, until i've tried NR2003. I found that NASCAR racing is very engaging and requires careful planning and lots of strategy and endurance to be able to even finish a race, even though to the outside observer it may just seem like "driving in circles".

Filtering through traffic in top speed is great, you must be quite perceptive what's going on around you while at the same time you have to keep an eye on the instruments so you don't overheat the engine while slipstreaming.

Also, the search of the best setup (usually asymmetric -- driving in a straight live requires constant driver input) is crucial and one mistake usually means the race is lost.

Other than that, the AI can also do mistakes (rarely, but it happens) and being able to go through a big crash without getting caught into it gets that adrenaline flowing.

I still don't watch the real NASCAR championship though, as i don't find it as engaging as MotoGP, TT, WRC (stopped watching modern F1 several years ago) or several other miscellaneous racing events.

Onboard doesn't have to be from inside the car; you can place the camera on the bonnet or roof, which would be more than fine for this game. Turn indicators and lack of pace notes could be a problem for some though, especially those who are into leaderboards who may feel "handicapped" by not be able to see farther down the road. I'm fine with it, eventually i'd learn the stages... In any case, a collection of 3-4 different cameras would suit everyone's tastes better than just one.
