Actually there are many racing games that do allow you to cut corners which can save a second or two which can make or break a race and there are non kart games that do offer hidden paths, they are few but they do exist.

They won't because of licensed cars. The same be said for any racing game, that has licensed cars, liveries etc.
So no Need for Speed series for you, no SEGA Rally, no Rallisport Challenge, no Colin McRae Rally (that was only a short period, that TOCA Race Driver 3 and CMR 2005 were here)...

The only games, that could show up here are these without licensed stuff.

- Nail'd,
- Ridge Racer Unbounded,
- Insane 2,
- Rollcage series (or the new generation of these types of game -> GRIP Combat Racing)
- Horizon Chase Turbo

- maybe FUEL... not sure.

And some other arcade racing games, that could still come here like
- Big Red Racing (DOS),
- B.C. Racers (DOS),
- GT Racing 97 (DOS),
- the other Flatout titles
- maybe the Sonic Racing games (eventually if SEGA shows up one day),
- the old Wipeout PC games (depends on SONY)...

and some others.

The only never racing games GOG got in recent time were the new Carmageddon (4) title and Slipstream. Nothing more.

So that is, why many of us are happy for game like this, art of rally.

^This. Warthog nailed it and raised the bar so high, that we've yet to see something better in rallying simulation since then. Basically what happened with Papyrus' NR2003.

Furthermore, an aesthetically beautiful one and with old era cars. Great, I am looking forward to it!

Hey, this one has a total of 5 votes on the GOG.com wishlist entry, is not even released, yet. And therefore,
has no positive feedback or reviews on the other store (distribution platform) to boot with.

I just hope, that the release of this one demonstrates to GOG.com the existing interest of there customers in such type of simulations/games, and will lead to a reconsideration of other such titles, like for instance the aforementioned "Offroad Mania".

P.S.: Certainly, I would not mind to be able to buy a DRM-free copy of Richard Burns Ralley or the original Collin McRae Rally here on GOG.com. But I think it is delusional to expect those classic masterpieces of rally simulation/games.

You're wrong. Nothing (except the publisher’s desire) prevents games with licensed cars from appearing here (if the license for cars has not expired).
And the fact that there were Colin McRae Rally and Race Driver GRID here confirms this.

There are pretty good racing games that were published 5-10 years ago (that is, not new), but are still being sold, that GOG could potentially get. Unfortunately, there is a big shortage (to put it mildly) with this genre here, which means that a whole category of gamers is lost for GOG.

This is a day one for me, Cant wait to crack out the logitech wheel for this bad boy!! and it has japanese scenic tracks, HELL YEAH!

Had 10 minutes to kill, fired up Linux and tried the demo, since it's small and fast download.
The demo doesn't look as good as the pictures, since the game is top-down view. Is a classic Unity game, with telemetry enabled and plays like a flash game, using too much computer resources for the type of game it is.

However it is still fun and surprising hard to master The controls are somewhat stiff and better played with helps turned down. Is not suited at all for a wheel and ok-ish for a controller, best played on keyboard.
If you like flash games, like trials etc, this is fun! But TrackMania is way, way better.


Will eventually pick it up if the price is right just because it's beautifull, it's a Rally game and has Linux support. Well, and has some very cool pieces of 4 wheeled art. Maybe will eventually play it with some friends to have some good laughs. (as said before, had only a fast look at the demo)

So true. Recently installed physics mods, new cars and traks (50Gb) and OMG! Only the graphics are not top notch, some updates seem very slow, coupled with the high sense-of-speed and concentration required, it tires me a lot and have to do a good rest after lenghty stages. Is that intensive!

I'm not a fan of Nascar and never played the game you mentioned, do you recomend it, even today?

Yes in these cases I am wrong, I admit, because these games cars licenses didn't expire. Yet.

But that doesn't change the fact that EA, Codemasters & Co. won't bring their games here, because GOG has a very small customer base compared to Steam, Epic, Origin, not to mention the game consoles ... so that is the reality.

We can be very happy, that from time to time here shows up a racing game.

Looks interesting I think. So much so that I might even give the demo a try.
But in any case I, like many others apparently, sure am glad to see another Racing game coming to GOG. I got Slipstream from this year's Summer Sale and have been trying it out lately, and so far I'm enjoying it. A bit repetitive, but still kind of fun I think. I love the soundtrack!
I just wish there were more Racing games coming to GOG too. I'd seriously love to see Wreckin Crew - Drive Dangerously and S.C.A.R.S. both from 1998 by Telstar Electronic Studios and Ubisoft respectively, and Blur from 2010 by Activision here on GOG!
