Alder's Blood is coming soon DRM-free.

Alder’s Blood is a stealth, tactical turn-based game set in a grim world, where nature stood against the humanity and repelled civilization. Use wide variety of weapons, stay in the shadows and prepare deadly traps to survive in combat!

TerriblePurpose: I believe he was referring to the fact that GOG's curation process initially turned it down.
That may be.
But that doesn't change the fact, that the game is now available here.
And whether it was initially turned down or not, is of no importance anymore.
like the artstyle on this one

I'm not going to get into a big argument about it, but it does have a direct bearing on his point.

Almost like they should talk more about the process ;)

Well... let's not get crazy here!
Looks pretty cool. Then again, I also thought Darkest Dungeon looked pretty cool, and ended up hating the game. Please don't let this be another Darkest Dungeon. No punishment for advancement. No random instant permadeath. No random semi-permanent status maladies. Even though it's possible to work around a lot of that using saves outside of the game, it's still not fun.
looks interesting but... i have seen 1.000's of games and played as many over the past 40 years
and this one looks like some games i seen before.... but its not bad to have more of the same and only change the GUI and animations, i love more of the same ( called niche games( to to be confused with nice games)

Anyway check ths alpha demo play : https://youtu.be/SDFzN8xi7y4

Let's Play Alder's Blood - The Tech Demo
Retcon Raider
Published on Mar 11, 2018

now about the system :D
recommended:
1.6 GHz
Memory:
2 GB RAM

jjudging by the look of the 'engine' used in the game to play the game i wonder if 1.6 ghz will do :D single core ofcourse cause once again there is NO mention of double, quad or more so it is safe to assume this works recomm. on only 1.6 ghz :D

Anyway i doubt the sytem req. .... but we will see once it arrives...

So far many nice, good and okay looking games have arrived, some i can even run on my old pc but unfortunately none of the 2 dozen ( maybe even more) are game i like to play.... so i wait for more to come.... someday a good game will arrive ( always think positive) .

Hey devs, if you're reading this, I volunteer to proofread the game. I got references and stuff.
This game looks awesome.

I was *just* craving a game with a sort of "different* turnbased style sort of like The Banner Saga with a "burn" factor to combat. Where units sort of progressively wear out or juggle a shared health / ability pool. The stamina thing in this sounds almost like it's going to be exactly that.

So here's hoping - love the unique setting as well. If this is sort of Invisible Inc meets Banner Saga with a survival camp screen I might be in love and have to grab it sooner than later.

lostwolfe: not to rain on this parade or anything [it's good that folks are releasing their games here.]

but...

...good grief. gog turned down inkle's heaven's vault, because they felt it was too niche, but it was wonderfully written [like 80 days] and yet this game - typo's and all - makes it through, the curation process, no problem?

i love you gog.

but get your stuff sorted out :P
I noticed the typos as well. Here's hoping they'll polish ( no pun intended ) up the writing before the official release date. Badly written dialogue could run the atmosphere in this type of game and setting.

Other than that it looks interesting -- Kind of like an indie Bloodborne with a Wild West theme.

thanks.

and yes. this was what i was referring to.

it's good that heaven's vault is here, finally.
it's bad that gog - who already knew of inkle's caliber through 80 days turned them down, initially, but this game gets through the process unscathed.

i'm glad gog do curation.

but it's also true that gog /should/ listen to their userbase in cases [like inkle's] where the decision is basically a no-brainer.

i mean, at least /some/ of the reason gog switched from "good old games" to gog was so that they could start picking up more indie games. inkle's pretty indie and makes interesting games that an audience here obviously wants. that's free money.

i'm glad alder's blood is here, too.

indies are generally interesting and i hope that this game finds a niche for itself.

the more choice, the better. [up to a point, obviously. non-curation like what steam does is...not the answer, either.]

Well, I believe that there are two types of good games:
a) Games that bring something entirely new to the table
b) Games that combine good, but already know mechanics into something really great

From what I played Alder's Blood, it's the second type of game. It's not revolutionary, for sure, but it combines great pieces into one, very atmospheric and fun to play game. More info to come :)

We'll verify it ofc, but the game doesn't really need a decent hardware to run. It's very inclusive in terms of system requirements :)

Thanks for the quick reply ...

my system is ready for retirement : i5 750 @2.66 ghz quad core calling it a Quad sore would fit better since it is
'painful' for it to play games, that is new games, old games run a charm on my quad Sore :D thats why i like old games ( but they are getting less and less ) so i have to get new games and those are usuallyt too heavy for my old i5 750 Quad sore @2.66ghz..

A new system is needed but since it is very expensive it will take longer then expected , i hoped to get one this year but its getting close so i guess i will have to add another year of misery before i might ( not even certain if 2020 a new pc will be affordable ( saving cash takes lots of time)

Anyway, am saving now for too long ....in 2020 the quad sore @2.66 ghz being pretty poor and sore, will reach its 11th birthday on sep 2020 :D

I'm still pretty sure the game should run on it. But we'll confirm it closer to the release, after more testing. What is your GPU and RAM btw? Have you thought of upgrading incrementally? Let's say - now the new CPU + motherboard, then GPU, then RAM?

One piece of advice: for now, it's still good to buy some older-gen CPU. The performance is not that worse, and the price differences are significant. For example, personally I'm still on i7 3770 - quite old one, but paired with RTX 2060 and 16 GB RAM it still runs almost every new AAA titles in ultra details in fairly stable 1080/60.
