Figured I'd try the new 1.2 beta as I wanted to make sure I didn't lose the 80 hours I've sunk into The Witcher 3 and I thought it'd be one of the first games GoG built support for.

The client keeps telling me 'Cloud Saves synced', but if I ask it to download a backup of them it gives me an empty folder. Likewise if I move my Witcher 3 saves folder temporarily the game acts like I'm loading it for the first time and lists no saves for me to continue from.

Is there any way for me to force the client to sync the saves I already have from playing The Witcher 3 some months ago? I've tried loading a 'fresh' install, then copying all my save files into the save directory while the game is running and updating all the file timestamps to 'now', but the client still synced nothing when I exited the game.

Please post a mantis issue about that. :) This sounds like a bug, or something weird is going on.
Here are the instructions: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post1
Please also tell us how big your save folder is, and the exact steps you took, if possible. :)

Answer to the question is: Yes, you should be able to sync your old saves.

Hi Johny,

Sorry for the long wait, I only just saw anyone had responded to me. Not had a chance to do any gaming for a few weeks so not had the GOG Galaxy client open or accessed the forums.

I've done some more digging, and think I've identified the problem. I've remapped my Documents folder (using the standard Windows way of doing this) to a non-default location. The Witcher 3 game (and all other games from GOG Galaxy which store their saves in the Documents folder) follows this remapping correctly and finds my saves, but the GOG Galaxy client does not. It therefore thinks I have no saves to sync, and if I ask it to download my cloud saves it creates a folder at 'C:/Users/<username>/Documents/The Witcher 3' with no saves in (C:/Users/<username> existed already, as a few other bits are in there, but C:/Users/<username>/Documents did not previously exist),

I submitted a ticket at http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=4924 with all the details and reproduction steps in.

U are in software business yourself, no? Very concise and clear. Wow.
Hmm, this is a bummer since the first thing that I do after installing Windows is to move the Documents folder to a different partition.

Just had an email from GoG support in response to my ticket, saying it should be fixed in 1.27. I'm currently on 1.28 beta, but I can confirm that I just installed The Witcher 3, it syned my saves and control settings, I was able to download a backup of them, and when I deleted my The Witcher 3 directory from my Documents folder on D: it restored it from the Cloud before launching the game.

And there was much rejoicing! \o/
Just have the same problem. I have redirected folders enabled and it seems that the gog client is confused about the network located folder. Not solved for me in gog client version 1.2.9
Hmmm, I disabled the redirected folder but it still does not sync, maybe another problem ?
Still the same with 1.2.10
I don't believe folder redirection to a network share is the same thing. I have seen a *lot* of games which cope just fine with the Documents folder being on another local drive or at a nonstandard path but still can't handle it being on a network share. Folder redirection in that way has to be able to handle things such as the drive not being available, offline folders etc, and I don't think that's completely abstracted by the OS. Clients have to have some knowledge of it, whereas simply remapping to another drive is a case of using the correct shortcut as opposed to a hardcoded path but is otherwise the same.

I was actually quite surprised they fixed my issue, given I don't expect many people remap. I doubt the extra work to make network shares work is worthwhile. Especially as that introduces the possibility of other, hard-to-diagnose, issues. I recall spending *ages* trying to get Sims 2 to work from a save when the Documents folder was on a network share. It involved no end of messing about, and when I eventually managed to convince it to work via Black Magic (tm) I found my load times had gone from 2-3 minutes to over 10, even though I was gigabit throughout the house and the server was maxing out the network.

I'm having the same issue, now on version 1.2.15. I also have my Documents folder mapped to a different local drive from my Windows installation. Works fine in the games - but downloading cloud saves from GoG Galaxy just results in an empty folder.

Does anybody know a trick for fixing this? It sounds like it randomly started working again for some people; but I've not had such luck.

I have this really funky new technology myself which I utilise for organising my saves. I copy the files out using something called explorer, I can can copy out multiple versions, organise and switch between them at the click of a button, transfer them across many machines and devices merely by inserting a bit of plastic each time, and I don't need to rely on a third party server which may/may not be available/do what i want. It's amazing this new tech!

Hi, I have a similar problem. I had to rebuild my computer and thought that my game saves for Witcher 3 were saved in the Galaxy cloud and that I didn't have to worry about them -- just reinstall and go. However, I'm not seeing any of my old games.

Is there a way to download the saves from the cloud manually? Also, if I change versions of game plain old Witcher 3 to Witcher 3 GOY, will the games from the older version show up on the GOY version?

Thanks in advanced help.
