I recently bought Hollow Night with my friend and he asked me to help him. So I logged in with my friend's account and played the game. When I went back to my account, the game was playing with my friend's save file. Can you tell me how to solve it?

Your saves are held locally. If you played it on your machine then the save from that play through is on your machine. Cloud saves only copy what is stored locally.

But why is my friend''s save files are in my account. I can't find my save files. I really want them back. Do you know how to fix this?

I'm guessing that when you "logged in with your friend's account" that the locally saved file synchronised with your online account when you logged back in to your account - overwriting your cloud save with the local file (which happened to be his cloud save).

I cannot test this to validate as:
1) I don't use cloud saves/Galaxy
2) I'm not 100% sure that logging on with someone else's account is allowable under the TOS

Support might be able to locate an old copy of your save in the cloud if you ask nicely.

You could see if there are old saves in:

%AppData%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight

Otherwise, not that I know of.

Did you have cloud saves enabled on your own account before logging in as your friend? If you didn't, you're definitely out of luck.

There should be a fair few things in LocalLow. I've got some Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Unity and Temp stuff in there on this machine.

Try pasting %AppData%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight into a run window rather than manually browsing to the folder.

Just saw your edit. The save files should be in there. They're saved in .dat format

This Steam topic might help, but I don't have the game so I can't really help you in identifying which files might be helpful. You might want to see if any are dated from when you know it was you playing in your own user account.

More likely they're your friend's if that's what the game shows when you load it up. Cloud saves work by downloading the saves before the game starts up and uploading them when you finish, so if the game is showing your friend's save it's because that's what's on your hard drive.

You could try going into Galaxy, on the Hollow Knight page click Extras. At the bottom there should be a file called Hollow Knight - Saves backup. But there's a chance that'll be your friends saves if you accidentally uploaded them to the cloud already.

I can’t help with cloud saves, other than to tell you not to use it. Save games are simply files which reside in a folder on your machine. They are totally under your control, you can take a copy of them at any point, paste other ones over, back them up etc. What has happened is rather than doing that yourself, you have relied on a third party to manage all that, and they do not work that way. Take it as a learning and do not rely on the internet in future, you take copies where needed, and you organise them. It’s the best way!
