I can't seem to get this thinbg to work, no matter what, it just stays on the splash logo and/or eventually vanishes.

Tried registry tweaks, directx dll files, compatibility modes, redownloads, reinstalls and nothing. :(

Can anyone have another solution? Someone with the same OS and maybe the same specs as mine (unlikely but giving it a shot)

Win 10 pro with latest updates;
I7 2700k;
GeForce 560ti - latest driver;


Also, log file says it's a problem with access violation.

Somebody can help me? ;_;

It won't load? Have you tried going in to bios and loading into like safety mode?

Access violation errors are usually resolved by running the game as admin or installing it in a directory other than Program Files.

OHHHHHH! That explains Clear Sky.....XD Try what Cogadh suggested if not report back here please.

But it just works. Probably another dumbuser who installed the game into either Program Files or Program Files (x86)

IDK why more people don't do like muh pic related. Or when having to use 1 HDD/SSD do 2 partitions. One for Windows and programs, another for files and games.

Why do that when you can just set proper permissions in subfolders of Program Files? Or better yet, why not demand proper coding methods that don't care about where the program is installed?
Only case the 2 partitions are useful is if you need to reinstall the OS, in which case you'd still need to keep a copy of the %userprofile% folder. It's usually better to have the %userprofile% in a different partition/disk and just reinstall the programs.

Could be the DEP settings on top of installing in Prog Files.

Right start off by uninstalling the game and install to something like C:\Clear Sky

Now try right click the shortcut crteated on desktop (or main exe file in install directory) and select Run as Administrator and see if it goes.

If that doesn't work try doing this :

Control Panel (Win 10 no quick link so search for it via search next to Windows button bottom left) Then set it to small icons to show everything.

Now click System

Bottom of list on upper left click Advanced System Settings

Next Window click settings under the performace tab at the top, now click Data Execution Prevention Tab

Now click the small circle to enable Turn on DEP for all programs.

Now click the add button and navigate to the Clear Sky installation directory and select the games main exe file and ok, then click Apply. Do the same for any other exe files remembering to click Apply after each within that directory just to make sure you are covered incase it has a splash type screen for settings etc that runs first.

Then try the game again

Should have installed into the default location the new installers suggest (C:/GOG Games if I reckon correctly)
Another solution for our Br friend would be to disable UAC, but then his apps (the calc and alarm and mail and calendar apps etc) wouldn't run and it would be a security risk.
You want people who install programs and games into default folders mess with permissions?

And yes, I have my appdata folders on my hdd with junctions.

After working in helldesk and IBM repair department for a while, I dont bother telling people about anyhting harder than telling them to keep their files on a different part and create links/shortcuts. Or have you seen how much retarded things people do on their computers?

I'd say they want programmers to stop messing with program files folders, not people in general. But programmers haven't learned that in more than 20 years, what makes me think they'll learn now...

I have. Thus why I prefer to explain why they encounter problem A and how to fix it instead of telling them to "Do X". But that's just me I guess.

I'm certainly not in your level, but I also work with computers, and I'm well aware of everything that you've just described, in fact I came here because at the very least, I have a little bit of humility and perhaps there's some simple solution that I may have overlooked, it happens even with a above average level of knowledge. But I suppose that from the high horse that you mount, must be hard to look down.

That I've already tried too.

And I did everything you guys suggested again, just for hell of it. No results, same thing. Game launch, splash logo forever or vanish after a while.

Just to be sure that it wasn't the galaxy/gog downloader messing up any files, I've copied the install folder to a laptop with W7 Ultimate, non-admin user and even without installing the game itself, lo and behold, it worked just fine on that. Sadly the laptop is arse on top of not being mine. xD
