Why is it that 75 percent off fallout games can't apply to the fallout games prebundle? And then get an added discount for bundling? Meanwhile on steam they discount their games same price prebundle as GOG but then through bundle discount magic make the bundle even cheaper then GOG. So that steam bundled fallout games are probably more like 85 percent off? A dollar isn't much but dang. DRM free tax?

Silly rant aside which of the classic fallout games are your fav? I'm thinking of just getting tactics cause I'll never really get the time to fully explore 2 and I already torrented 1 and played it quite a bit.

Fallout 2, had more depth humour and choice for me..

Hope you like FOT, I love it personally, I think it's very underrated, but thats because of it's illustrious prequels, not because of its merits.

Same, also the user interface in Fallout 2 had some quality of life improvements which made it much more pleasant to play.

I noticed on reddit people complained the steam copies ran worse. So maybe the extra dollar is justified. But bethesda come on man! The games are ancient, base price should be 5 not 10.

Just checked steam and new vegas vanilla at base price is 10. How is a 6 year old game worth the same as a 16 year old game? The content in new vegas vanilla is quite a bit more than fallout 1.

In this case I think the extra dollar is well spent. From what little research Ive done, its almost always best to buy older games on gog regardless of price:

A: Gog takes measures to insure old games play on new systems and has a better track record than Steam on this issue.
B: You can turn off or not use auto-update so you can keep the proper version of the game you need for additional patches and mods. Because youre probably want to go ahead and use the latest fan made patch and maybe resolution mod. This is actually good for newer games that havent settled on a final version yet.
C: Gog actually helps you find additional patches or mods you may want with links to a wiki on the games store page. And lets face it, many of them need additional tweaking.

For example I just bought the Fallout bundle here on gog and then installed Fallout 1. Then I went to the Fallout 1 store page, found a wiki link, ended up finding the nma-fallout.com where I found the latest and most popular mod: Fallout Fixt 0.81 alpha mod that includes all patches, and installed that... And the games works quite well after I found the proper resolution.

The gog version already has the resolution mod but I wanted the additional stuff included with the Fixt mod/patch.

Fallout 2 would be my favourite, I think it really expanded on the first game in terms of ... well, eveything. Especially the writing though, they made the game world feel very much alive, like its own thing.

I always got the impression that the people who did not like' Tactics' were not big fans of the combat in these games, but for me one of the big pulls of a Fallout game was in fact the combat. It also required you to be far more strategic and tactical (duh?) than in the "regular" games, at least to a mainstream audience who plays on Easy or Normal.

I feel Tactics is underrated because people did not understand what an off-shoot means, that it won't offer the same kind of game as a regular sequel. Even today the vast majority of our vocal gamers struggle with this basic concept and simply won't accept it: ' it says Fallout so it must be like the other Fallout' ... even though it's not a numbered sequel.

Bethesda has always been rather reserved with their sale prices as far as I can remember, at least when compared to other big publishers like EA and Ubisoft. You won't see Skyrim or Oblivion on sale for €5 in a looong time, yet Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2 and AC Brotherhood have all been at €5 or less during sales.

Tthere is definitely a DRM-free 'sales tax' used in practiclity; the same game is almost always cheaper on Steam than on GOG. However I don't see it as a 'DRM-free tax' though, but as a DRM-on subsidy or discount ... you get a lower price on Steam because of DRM. That's how I choose to see it anyway.

That reminds me - I got Fallout Bundle on GOG AGES ago and still havn't played it. (((
