Swedrami: Might be just one of those redundant 5-6MB placeholder/flag files you often see listed under "DLC installers" in the library (for completely stand-alone items like the soundtrack or artbook) that seem to be nonetheless necessary for ensuring logical consistency(?) in regards to whether you actually have bought and are eligible to have access to those extras/upgrades and whatnot.
The difference in this here case being that the "added DLC" placeholder/flag is not visible.
Exactly, it's most likely just dirty workaround because it's only way for GOG to restrict item to owners.

Orkhepaj: testing this out
hmm it requires gothic 2:I
Yeah, while being seemingly standalone, from what I understand it's only so because GOG added some bits of Gothic 2 inside so that it can be installed standalone... but as a consequence, for obvious license reasons, owning the original G2 is required.

I suspect GOG marketing may have been fooled by this : "Oh it's standalone, so we can advertise it as a freebee on the front page".

Would the Mod work with Gothic II (retail) + the addon Night of the Raven (retail) installed?
Or must it be exclusively the Gold Edition of Gothic II?

Are there more differences between Gothic II Vanilla and Gold than the addon?

Without owning the game here, you can't claim it. So the retail version means nothing. I am in the same boat. I even have Gothic 1 & 2 installed right now, and thought about giving this a go, but nope.

Thanks for your quick response Acriz, and you're fully right. It's not possible to grab it here without owning the game on gog. Hmm, anyway I won't buy the main game again, neither here nor anywhere else.
You could try that version on moddb
and tell me (and others) if that would work, assumed you own the Raven addon or a retail Gold Edition...

You can get the mod on moddb. It's just a bit more work than the installer version. I'd highly recommend getting it, it's a fantastic experience.

sotisopa: I think this is the first mod I've ever seen in GOG. And I think it's cool and about time. However downside atm is, that offering possible mods for games lin "current style" will end up this mod and future ones easily drowning into sea of store items. It really looks like it's just another game among other games.

GOG seriously needs to setup own, distinct mod-area for games, something like Steam workshop, but hopefully not so walled garden like Steam has.
I mean, they barely talk about mods so I don't think it would be in their mindset to add that. They have a relationship with one of the mod sites at one point, but never spoke about it much

I tried it and no luck. I have the three versions in my gothicstarter but when I try to start any of version it boots me up into the NotR main menu. And if I try to start a new game there I only get a black screen. No idea what the problem could be.
As a base I used the Gothic 2 Gold version from the Gothic Universe DVD release, patched to version 2.6 (fix) with the SP 1.8. Game runs fine otherwise.

Edit: If I start it with administration rights it works........ always these administration rights...

Why is the soundtrack only available on Steam? I know I should not ask, it is pretty much the norm these days, but I cannot help myself.
What I did in Gothic 2...
Donations on the official website seem to be still open too, by the way.
Going to chip in a little something later this week, just can't let something like Archolos go unrewarded.
For those not aware, who cannot take advantage of this free conversion mod because they don't own Gothic 2, it is going very cheap right now - $3.69 AUD.

Hmm, good to know! Than have fun with it nice king :)
I'll try out the tricky way of the moddb-installation sometime later

Well, apparently it is a little bit more involved to get this mod running. The World of Gothic Forum has detailed step-by-step instructions, and you need some alternative systempack. Not sure if I will bother anytime soon.
