Only because a game is one of your favourite games doesn't mean that you have to like all of it.

In any case, I do hope they release the civilization series (1-5) on GoG before the expected release of Civilization 6 later this year (as the rumors claim, rumors that appear reasonably credible). It would be a good way to get people prepped for the new version of the game. :)

What!? Did the rumours mention if it will continue from the Civ V branch or will backtrack to the ways things were in Civ IV? Will Shafer be involved?

I only played Civ I and FreeCiv. I love them both! I would love to see "The Civs" on GOG.

Is there not going to another major expansion released for Beyond Earth?
The game definitely needs one.

Just to clarify:
The Civ 2 gold game is a 32 bit game,but has a 16 bit installer. There are workarounds that are not all the hard to get it to run on a 64 bit computer.
The original Civ 2 and it's expansion discs are 16 bit programs. Short of Goint the virtual machine route, there is no way of getting them to run on a 64 bit computer.

CIV II had expansions?
I only know the base game (still own the boxed version), but I never heard of an expansion.

There were three expansions.

First one added 20 new scenarios - it was called Conflicts in Civilization
Second one added several fantasy scenarios (X-Com, Master of Orion, Master of Magic worlds, etc.) - it was called Civ II Fantastic worlds.

Third expansion included all of the above and added multiplayer for the game.

Only the Ultimate Civilization 2 Classic Collection includes all the above features.

There was also a remake of Civilization 2 called Civilization 2: Test of Time (really loved this one).

There were two expansions - Conflicts in Civilization, which featured historical scenarios, and Fantastic Worlds, which features Sci-fi and Fantasy scenarios.

I particularly liked the Master of Magic jr scenario. :)

Wow, I didn`t know that. I have here a box, published by PC Games, which is titled "Maximum Fun CIV 2 Undiscovered worlds for Civilization 2" which contains more than 50 scenarios. :-)

Yes, I would expect there to be a new lead designer, probably chosen from the people who were senior (but not lead) designers on the previous iterations of the game.
